** Official 2015 New Bar Menu thread....Prices, Drinks, and package info

Recommended Posts

Have you actually selected a package and got to the part where they want your credit card, in order to see the final price? They have been adding 18% gratuity for a while now.

I didn't have to give my card to see the final price. All I had to do was click the package I wanted, the passengers using the package and add it to my cart. I could see the final price as soon as it was in my cart.

I just read a new review on Grandeur and the reviewer said they had a special "Buy One Beverage Package get One 1/2 Off" if you bought the package onboard.

She had purchased hers on-line before the cruise and they would not refund her the difference. I know I read before that there was no difference in buying ahead of time so I went ahead and purchased mine already to make that bill look a little better at the end of the cruise. Now I read this and this is a 10 day cruise so we are talking around $250 savings for the Premium package.

So should I cancel just to be safe? We cruise Saturday so I'm guessing I would have to cancel quickly. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't see much of a downside to cancelling and purchasing onboard. It's not like they will run out of beverage packages.

Which review. Could you link to it?

Sorry but that would be pushing my technical skills too far. But I can copy and paste! Here it is as posted in the "Grandeur of the Seas Cruise reviews":

Won't do that again!

Sail Date: February 2015

Destination: Western Caribbean

Embarkation: Baltimore

Very disappointed with the ship and the staff. We knew when we booked the cruise the ship was old but did not expect to have uncomfortable beds and furniture in our suite that was like sitting on the floor. We had suites that were across the back of the ship and the decks were full of soot every time we pulled into port which made it impossible to use the deck until the cabins were cleaned. Breakfast on the balcony was not possible.

Several of the days there were plumbing problems in the suites where the carpet was drenched so they brought in large fans to dry the carpet (did't know if it was sewer or clean water).

One day the toilet did not flush, it was corrected.

Upon entering the ship I found that the two drinking packages I purchased (the ultimate and select) were now buy one and get the second 1/2 off. The guest services were extremely rude when I asked for the $250.00 refund since I paid a few days earlier online. Since it was a special only if you purchased it on the ship many others were extremely upset. Our friends all got the discount.

DON'T PURCHASE YOUR DRINK PACKAGE UNTIL YOU GET ON THE SHIP, and quite frankly I don't think is a good deal especially if you couldn't get a drink when you wanted one.

First time every we had to get our own coffee or juice in the Windjammer. (fresh squeezed juice was not available in the Windjammer which is included in the ultimate package) . Many days we had to clear the table to get a seat.

Our entire table had the drink package however on most evenings we were not able to get a drink at dinner. We would need to bring a drink from another bar or leave the dining room and go get our own drink.

Most bartenders would know who had the drink package and would be sure not to have eye contact with those customers and it seemed we would wait longer than most. I drink Captain Morgan and coke, two of the bars did not have Captain Morgan so I would need to go get a drink at another bar and return to my friends.

Our group age was between 50-60, we were younger than most so most of the entertainment (music) was for the older crowd accept the Viking Lounge where the music was so loud (and often rap) you could only stay for a short time. The entertainment, bars were closed by 11:30 except the casino and Viking.

This isn't a secret promotion-- it's the BOGO beverage sale that they have all over the website. You can call and do it over the phone.

I thought I had read that people that called in were told they couldn't do it for sailings prior to May 15th since the promotion is only good for sailings on or after that date?

Existing reservation for a sailing on May 23rd 2015, booked prior to the current promotion. Are you saying if I call they'll give me the BOGOHO deal on a beverage package?

For those that are interested, I'm in Freedom now and found new bar menus in several venues. They are posted in my live thread.

Can you please find out if the BOGO is available if you purchase your drink pacakge on board?! Can you also find out if both people have to order the same package? For example, I want the premium, DH wants Replinish - is that even an option?!

Thanks and enjoy the rest of your cruise!! :)

They were not advertising bogoho beverage packages on board. You do not both need to purchase the same package.

We were going to buy the BOGOHO deal for our June 7th sailing, but was told we would have to pay the current cruise rate to get the drink package half off. Luckily, we booked before the prices skyrocketed. So I would have to pay almost $900 more on the cruise rate to get the BOGOHO. No thanks. And from reading these posts, I might be able to walk on the ship and get the BOGOHO without paying the extra cruise rate. Silly games Royal is playing.

Ok that's what I thought. Wouldn't be worth it if I had to pay the current cruise price. Thanks!

I just called and the answer was - nope you're not eligible. It's only for bookings in a certain time period as many others have said.

So am I to understand that there is now only one menu for the whole ship, the same for every bar and all the ships?

There used to be different menus for example at the pool bar, compared to Borleros lounge or at the Casino etc.

This was in the case at the end of Jan. Can anyone confirm this has changed fleet wide? Seems strange they now only offer about 10 different drinks according to the picture of the menu posted here. Something doesnt make sense at all!

Thats too bad..the old menus looked much nicer, easier to read, seemed like many more options as well to say the least.

It's bad enough they raised the prices that much, but cutting back on options as well as the presentation of them......just another disapointment with RCI

Yea I thought it seemed a little limited as well. I loaded pictures of the old menu onto my ipad in case I need some inspiration. I'm assuming they still have all/most of the same ingredients.

I just got off Freedom and each bar has its own menu, but there are no prices on most. Plus if you tell them you want something that is not on the menu, they will make it for you. Most drinks are $10-12 per drink. In Olive or Twist, which is the name of the old Viking Crown Lounge, the menu says in bold print $10. That's for all the drinks on the menu.

The package is best if you plan to drink 5 or more drinks a day!

We just got off the Legend last month. ALL the bars had the exact same drink menu, except the R Bar. The main menu had very few drinks listed and no pretty pictures. DH drinks beer and most of the specialty beers were not stocked anywhere. It was quite disappointing.
