Pushka Posted March 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) I was finally able to book for Alaska 2016 this morning. I ended up getting the Minisuite Bump out cabin - Yeah! and then I checked the aft area to see what was happening - selecting "after May 2016" and saw these: Yep, they have gone is seems unless they didnt draw the door on Dolphin and Caribe. snoodqueen Posted March 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2015 Looks like they've taken away the wonderful back public decks and replaced them with cabins. Always about the money!
Rare Woobstr112G Posted March 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2015 Changes sometimes, as I have posted on these boards, are a bitter pill to swallow. The saving grace is there are different ships and even different lines we have to choose from. Things that I do not like, others may love. Best thing is there is always something for everyone.....:):):) Bob
waltd Posted March 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2015 Looks like the same changes that Princess is doing to the Island this year.
caribill Posted March 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2015 The "by or after" May 2016 choice is for a number of the ships, not just this one. Last time Princess did this, they changed cabin categories on all of the ships. And they generated just as much confusion as now, with numerous threads over several months asking "What has changed?". bachcruise Posted March 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I'm really bummed they're making these drastic changes to the Coral too. I loved that ship and was hoping to sail her again in her current state. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Nancyquilts Posted March 13, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2015 They seem to be taking out the Universe Theater and adding a lot more cabins.:(

Rare cr8tiv1 Posted March 13, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I just tried to book a Panama Canal Transit on the Coral for March, April. She's not doing it. Thanks for this thread. What is Princess doing??????
AliceS Posted March 14, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 14, 2015 Just off of the Coral and the Universe Lounge will go. We enjoyed Zumba there every day and they had bingo and art auctions there.....Captain's Circle party, too. Other than that, it was very underused. I wonder about only having two dining rooms for the additional passengers. there were lines for dinner.....especially the first night.

Thank you, but I was looking for a full transit through the entire canal from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles. Both of these dates are for round trip cruises out of Fort Lauderdale. The Island and the Pacific Princess seem to be the only ships doing the full transit. The Coral seems to be doing a passage from Fort Lauderdale to Vancouver and is booked as in entirety. Cruzin-K Posted March 15, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 15, 2015 Thank goodness I am on the Coral in April, 2016.:):) Sorry, but she's going into dry dock before April. My February 2016 cruise was canceled, as were several others because of it. You'll have the new "improved" Coral
Pushka Posted March 15, 2015 Author #17 Share Posted March 15, 2015 Sorry, but she's going into dry dock before April. My February 2016 cruise was canceled, as were several others because of it. You'll have the new "improved" Coral They should change that Before May 2016 notice then. Could be some unhappy people caught out. Im struggling to understand how it will look. Ive just changed our booking to a suite so its not going to bother us too much.
caribill Posted March 15, 2015 #18 Share Posted March 15, 2015 They should change that Before May 2016 notice then. Could be some unhappy people caught out. Since the Coral dry dock is in February and the map changes are in May (and not just for the Coral), then I suspect the May map changes have nothing to do with any revisions during the Coral drydock. MSBerliner Posted March 15, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 15, 2015 What a shame! I suspect that the Universe Lounges on other Grand class ships will also disappear and become additional cabin space. Also, a tremendous shame that the open promenade around the entire ship will ALSO disappear!

Pushka Posted March 16, 2015 Author #23 Share Posted March 16, 2015 I take it there will just be a dead end corridor on each of the aft decks as there doesnt appear to be cabins built the whole way across.
Colo Cruiser Posted March 16, 2015 #24 Share Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) As well as the ability to promenade around the whole Promenade deck? Yes they will remove the aft 1/3 of it. :( Edited March 16, 2015 by Colo Cruiser
