Queen Victoria & Queen Mary 2 both be in Auckland tomorrow!!

I have just been checking the Port of Auckland website http://www.poal.co.nz/cruise_ships/cruise.asp

 

and I have noticed that both that Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria will be in Auckland on the SAME day!!. :eek: :cool:

 

Queen Victoria due at the pilot station at 0530 and Queen Mary 2 getting the pilot at 1400 (2pm) and Queen Mary 2 is in Auckland for 3 (three) days!! :eek:.

To think it normally takes 2-3 years to plan for a "Royal Rendezvous" of two Queens in Sydney... this is great!

We will be in Auckland Friday but then driving up to the Bay of Islands, where QM2 will be on Monday.

 

I almost planned to do this cruise - but ended up in NZ anyway - but for WORK!:( Was on the QM2 this time last year and I miss her.

If I can get the timing of the Queen Mary 2 and my ferry right, i.e.: one or other is NOT late!, then I should be able to chase her in :)

I am currently on QM2. Getting to Auckland early as we missed Wellington.

Had force 9/10 winds and they did not want to risk trouble in Wellington.

Also went to Picton instead of Akaroa.

Following you on Marine Traffic site. You are just off the Bay of Islands, probably just past by now , and racing along at 23 knots. Will be looking out for you as you pass Orewa on the way in to Auckland.:)

She sailed past Orewa about 1.20. Could just make her out through a misty shower of rain.

She's now berthed on the western side of Jelicoe Wharf, the middle one in the container area. I'm guessing that's because she's too big for Princes Wharf, or someone else is already booked for there :)
