Sky suite question and Michaels club

LOL....Lucky they aren't still doing it the way it was done on the Titanic.....or all the "lower classes" would be stuck....3-4 suite passengers per boat .....and lots of wine and food sounds about right....and a couple crew I suppose to run the boat.....such a bother stearing and all.....

 

 

Easily solved....just assign only the suite guests who are allowed in Michael's club to muster there....if they forget the code, go down with the ship. Perhaps Celebrity can even have a suite guest lifeboat...with food from Luminae and canapes from Michaels and a concierge on board.

If someone needs to row.....I would rather have a few attractive female crew members......I am sure someone can run down to the crew mess and fill a few big bags or some such....;)

 

 

Surely they would make an exception in emergencies or, if that just goes too far, refuse to serve Zenith guests food. After all, we will need someone to row the high-end suite guests. You cannot expect us to row ourselves.:rolleyes:

It makes no sense to me why RCI and Celebrity have chosen to deny access to those in the bottom-tiered suites.

 

Why call them suites if the benefits at all, save for the fact that there is a bathtub in the bathroom.

 

 

The truth is that Sky Suites aren't "suites" at all. They are 300 sq. feet or about the same size as Princess "Mini Suites", RCCL "Junior Suites", or Cunard "Princess Suites". None of those is a real suite and none of those come with the same perks as a full size suite on the respective cruise line. The Celebrity Sky Suite actually comes with more perks that any of the other examples I mentioned other than Cunard. Nevertheless, a true suite should have two (or more) completely separate rooms. Nowadays, almost every major cruise line except Disney has room categories that they call suites that really are just cabins that are larger than the standard.

Here's the problem with that: Michael's Club is a designated Muster Station and regulations prohibit locking the door in any way at any time. They would néed to find another space to replace MC before it could be locked and that has not been easy to do.

 

Is Michaels still a muster station? I didn't notice that on Summit nor Connie, and I looked for it assuming it was. Hadn't paid attention to S class ships recently. I've mustered in theater in Aqua and lower forward inside cabins, Rendezvous in RS and PH, and Casino when in CS on deck 9 (all M class ships).

 

If it is, who musters there? Definitely not PH or RS, and the theatre is just down the hall where most everyone does....

You don't muster by "class" you muster based on deck and fwd/aft

 

Don't worry Curt, your butler can get you reserved seating in the theatre if you need it ;)

I've mustered in Michael's on S-Class before. I really don't like mustering in there. The L shape of the room makes it very claustrophobic.

I have yet to muster anywhere on an S class ship where there is enough space for the numbers crammed in.

You must never have been assigned the theater as your assemble station, plenty of room there

Never had an issue anywhere other than Michael's. Busy yes. Claustrophobic and hot, no.

It certainly is not a deal-breaker for us, but I did notice on page 18 of the spring newsletter from Celebrity that was e-mailed to me today that Michaels Club was a benefit in suites. I thought it was kind of funny actually since it was being discussed on cruisecritic. It will be interesting to see what happens on our cruise in August. I'm just so thrilled to have a sky suite and at a great price to boot! Shhhhh! I'd like to experience Michaels Club, but if we can't, oh well!

I'm starting to wonder if they are about to open Michael's to SkySuites. There's plenty of space in there most time to allow the extra people.

 

I got the same newsletter, and agree it absolutely reads that sky suites get access.

From other threads it seems if you have lots of cruises, are Zenith, A big Blue Chip (casino player club) or maybe know someone at corporate then entrance to Michaels can be had without a "higher" suite.... not common but does happen.

We are in a RS on Connie's Crossing. It is now 4:10 pm and I am all alone in the gorgeous Michaels Club having JW Black, rocks. When I want a cigar I simply exit the club and puff away right outside the door with Mr Walker in my hand. Superb service & top shelf staff. Please keep telling folks that MC is a dreary dark place unsuitable for the 99%. 😊

 

I remember when it was a cigar lounge :D
