Golden Princess Redeployment 19th April 2016 - Sydney to Los Angeles

Just received information about cancellation of this cruise, has anyone else received similar?

Wow...I wonder what happened. Guess that means F311 (reserved by some teacher/professor) is now open. Wonder where she will be going? Staying in Australia (reason she's not listed in the new press release).

I'm sorry your cruise is cancelled. The Golden is a terrific ship and I would like to see her return to LA.

Maybe its staying in OZ for our winter. Could be that Princess had strong bookings in Australia and thought they get better yeilds down here. I be interested to see where it goes. My guess is either its staying here or popping up to Asia and then coming back down to Australia for the 2016/2017 summer season.

We just got an email that the 2 nighter we had booked on Golden on the 17th April 2016 Mel/Syd has been cancelled and have been offered the replacement cruise 2 nights Mel/Syd 4th April 2016. The 4th was originally a NZ cruise, so I guess that is cancelled too.

So looks like the Golden is heading back to Sydney on the 4th April, and my guess is going to Asia, which I thought might happen.

For anyone wanting a 2 nighter on her, the new date of 4th April is Easter Saturday:)

Ok, just checked Darwin port schedule and the Golden is booked in on April 13th, I remember seeing that there before and wondering why, that is why I always thought it would go to Asia.

So Mel/Syd, then Syd Asia me thinks:cool:

Got no notification from Princess. However, when I was doing a Mock booking, all of a sudden there was a nice Goodwill credit added for OBC.

Went into my personalizer and there was a $200.00 credit there.

Turns out, Princess is giving all of us $200.00 for our trouble. I read it all on my roll call or would still be in the dark. Princess is still selling cabins for this cruise and my cruise is still active on my Personalizer. We also booked the 2 day Australia coastal and got a $50.00 good will credit for that one too.

My travel agent is on vacation. I assume she must have gotten the email. I just emailed her(she always checks emails when vacationing).

Someone on my roll call posted that Princess wants to transfer cruise to another one for us (we pick) or they will credit our deposits back in 30 days.

The nice thing about that itinerary was the only one way flying (winding up in LA) and so sad this is getting cancelled.

If you're booked through a TA, Princess will almost always inform the TA first about a major change. Usually they'll send a followup message a day or so later advising of the change and to check with your TA for more info.

Bummer about your cruises being cancelled.

Just spoke to our Princess Cruise Rep in the UK - the cruise is definitely cancelled

They got notification this morning when they came into work, obviously email notifications went out prior to that.

I said to him that the cruise is still showing as live, he said that this will change soon.

Golden possibly going to Asia, not set in stone tho!

He also transferred our booking across to the Emerald 12th April 2017 Crossing to Los Angeles at the same price as now, including all our obc

I hope she stays in San Francisco, we need a new ship in that port.

So sad for everyone that was booked on this cruise. There has been an active roll call for 11 months! We booked in July 2014 for our 50 anniversary, but cancelled in November for a number of reasons.

Princess also cancelled a China to Vancouver repo we had booked when they decide to keep the Diamond in Asia.

I am beginning to think it is unwise to book a repo cruise so far ahead of sailing! Or just book to get the cabin you want but not count on the cruise actually happening! Yikes!

Cheers, Denise

As I mentioned in the recent Golden Drydock thread, the casino was heavily remodeled. Machines and games more attractive to the Asian market as well as a high-roller VIP area were put in place. To me that is a HUGE clue as to where she's going to end up.

We had booked two cabins for the two night cruise from Melbourne to Sydney. Found out via our Travel Agent last night. Unfortunately I'd booked the flights from NZ to Melbourne last Saturday! We are now hoping to get onto Dawn Princess on the 20th as we wanted to travel during NZ school holidays. Also offered the onboard credit, but will need to make a claim via Princess's webpage for the changes to our flights.

This is our third cruise that has had to be changed (out of the five we have booked). Our second cruise we found ourselves unexpectedly pregnant after booking (I blame the success of the first cruise:D) so we rebooked on an earlier cruise with P&O before 23 weeks of pregnancy). The third cruise had an itineray change after the Christchurch earthquakes.

REALLY hope that next month's cruise will be smooth sailing!

Theresa, we are booked on the Dawn 20th sailing. We had booked Golden 17th April Mel/Syd, Dawn 20th April Syd/Bris, then decided to stay on and do the following cruise to New Guinea, buggers our plans too, luckily no airfares booked yet.

Chez - that date is the week after Easter. Easter Saturday is 26 March in 2016.

Phew, thanks Sarah, I was looking up 2015:o

Even better for us as we cant take Easter next year:( and was waiting to see what the repositioning to Asia will be.

If the 2 nighter they have offered me leaves Melbourne on the 4th, there is a booking for Golden in Sydney for the 6th, I would think it will leave on the 6th for Asia.......all speculation of course!! The booking in Darwin is the 13th April, 7 days to get there sounds right.

I'm already committed on the Diamond Princess out of Perth on 30 March, plus friends on the same cruise. I be interested to see what the itineraries are though.
