Soft Drink Vending Machines Onboard?

I realize one can obtain soft drinks from the various dining venues or lounges, but if one desired a simple can of Coke in their cabins or to enjoy in a deck chair, are there vending machines onboard Princess ships that dispense them?

There will be cans of soda in your stateroom which your steward will replenish as you drink them (and sign the chit for them). Throughout the ship there are human soda dispensers known as bartenders that will happily sell you an unopened can for consumption at your leisure. There are no vending machines onboard as aside from the casino there is no need to carry cash with you; all purchases are charged to your onboard account.

I assume that this question was prompted by the knowledge that on some of their ships Royal Caribbean has the Freestyle Coke machines--which only passengers who purchased the unlimited soda package can use. Personally I go on vacation to be served; if I wanted to pay to stand in a queue of people who have no idea how the Freestyle machine works I can just go to Burger King.

How crowded can it possible be waiting on line? 15 or 20 people deep?

I've never been on RCL since they started the program.

First day was pretty bad until people figured it out. 30 min lines. Many people gawking at the choices and just playing or couldn't figure out what to do, even with a staffer there to help.

Thank goodness, no.

Room service or the bar/DR's/HC cans/fountain are available.

Hmm -- that's a pretty definitive response Colo Cruiser. Is that convenient amenity some type of problem?

Not really wanting to see vending machines show up on my cruises. But that's just me. ;) Lots of other options. Just sayin.

I guess it's just like the buffet line where people stare a a pile of mashed potatoes & can't decide if they want them. :D

Not into Coke products nor the metallic taste that many sodas seem to absorb from cans. So we'll bring on bottles of Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist and Sobe. Not a problem on Princess.

My daughter likes playing with those machines (a popular Italian take out place near us has one). But at least the most people you might have in front of you is just one or two. I can see it'll be frustrating to be behind someone who can't get the hang of the machine and doesn't step aside and let others take a turn (and watch what they do). I'm usually patient, but I have to admit I got snarky with some guy at a Redbox machine last year. If he had just ask for my help, I would have perhaps.

On Royal, in the gym. That is the only place I have seen

a vending machine. It uses one's cruise card.

Another option is to pre order the canned soda package from Princess Cellars.

It is item # 2311 and costs $11.75 for 6 cans. You can choose any six canned sodas in any combination from a list of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Diet Sprite, Orange soda, soda water, tonic water, or Ginger Ale. You can order as many of the canned soda packages as you want. Have your credit card, cruise booking number, voyage number, ships name, sailing date and stateroom number ready and then call 1-800-774-6237 and you can place your order. Your credit card will be charged when you make the call so you will have the cost paid before the cruise. That will help keep the bill at the end of the cruise down a little bit compared to ordering the canned sodas from room service.

There is a vending machine in the gym on the Royal that does have soft drinks in it. Used it in January. You can purchase from it using your cruise card. The price is the same as elsewhere on the ship and includes the service charge.

I've never seen a vending machine on any cruise line. How would they get their 15% tip?

The same way vending machines include sales tax where it is required?

Like set the selling price to some crazy amount like $1.87, so that the

selling price plus tax totals $2.00

I do enjoy my soda but I find it funny that if I pay for one from a machine and I carry it off that I have to pay a service charge. I could tip myself I guess.

No vending machines. You can bring what you like onboard or just buy cans when you board. I only drink Dr. Pepper which Princess doesn't carry so I always bring a couple of cans onboard.

I hope you drink diet. Now I know where to go when I run out. :)

Who gets it?The trainers? The assistant cruise director? Or does it go into a large pool.. Can you remove the automatic vending machine tip if you receive poor service from the machine?

The service charge would go into the pool. However, when you think about it someone has to service the machine and keep it full. Just as someone puts the drinks in the rooms.
