Decks of cards

We have bought decks of cards from the casino on HAL and on Princess. They are cards that have been used on the ship to play the card games ie blackjack. They use them for so many games, then retire them and sell them. They are cheap, maybe $1 OR $2.

I'd suggest bringing your own....

Sometimes the casino might have a deck they discard with a punched hole or some other indication they cannot be used in Casino..

I think everyone has answered your question but if you are in Seattle pre-cruise, you could stop at a dollar store (or the equivalent) and buy a deck of cards and just leave them on the ship if you want to keep your luggage light :)

The cards have been on sale in the casino on the cruises we have been on ($1 a pack if I recall correctly) at a very cheap price.

Nah, that's WAY too much work (and had nothing to do with weight). Celebrity hands them out for free (as many as you want) and I couldn't remember if HAL did the same or not. In the mean time, after I posted this yesterday one of the Seattle locals on our roll call said they would bring some so we're covered. :p Thanks for everyone's feedback/suggestions though. Seven more sleeps and we'll be on board!! YAY! :D

Happy you will have your playing cards but wonder if it has nothing to do with weight, why not pack a deck in your suitcase?
