Project Runway??

Eh, it's just product placement. Celebrity will sponsor an episode of the show and challenge the contestants (design new uniforms for our activity staff, or something like that) and in return they have basically an hour of free advertising.

It won't affect anyone who actually cruises.

Is that the show where the skinny stick pretty black girl picks who will be a model?

Have they ever SEEN who is around the T-pool, Lol?

No, it's the show where clothing designers do weekly challenges in designing clothes. Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn are the hosts. Great fun to watch.

Is it on over the air TV channels ?

I have no cable or satellite TV

But I would not watch this show anyway

I think it is a waste of promo money

Please Celebrity stop making your cruise line a fluff cruise line

It is on LIFETIME so if you don't have any cable you won't be watching

it.

I imagine Celebrity, like all major consumer organizations, has an advertisement budget, and people who have much training, education and experience making decisions on how best to spend that money.

I do not think Lifetime is on any Canadian cable / satellite TV .

So I guess they really should not be sending me these emails

Looks like there a lifetime ca station so I was wrong

My OTA reception is better than we were on cable / satellite :-)

They'll get more than an hour of advertising, though it's not free. They're giving the winner a cruise, so Celebrity will be mentioned every time the show airs, and this series is very popular and replays often.

I am looking forward to this episode, just as I looked forward to the episode of Top Chef where the contestants were on board the Millennium to Alaska. I prefer this type of advertising campaign over the type that gives free picnic baskets to people in a park.

I love Project Runway, but our Canadian Lifetime channel doesn't show it. At one time the season started here when it was almost over in the US, but at least we got to see it. Haven't been able to watch it in a couple of years.

I don't watch the show but I do know of it. It looks to me like a new marketing strategy. When it was announced, it looks like a new perk or specialized cruise. To me, the announcement was a little misleading.

The roaming butlers with picnic baskets!

And how is it a positive for Celebrity?...watching some designers who

want to be the next ....pick a label......what does that have to do with

cruising on Celebrity? It may not be negative but just wondering what

it has to do with cruising? I can understand Top Chef...culinary field...

Food is always be associated with Cruising.

I have watched the show in the past.....maybe I am just turning

cynical as I get older:rolleyes:.....I fail to see how 16 people who are fighting

for the best design (yes, they fight.....it is a reality show after all)...

I fail to see how it is associated with a cruise on Celebrity....but

it doesn't matter what I see or don't see......it is not my call.

Ms Lutoff-Perlo is the only person that matters and I guess she sees

$$ signs.......

Clearly Celebrity feels it's beneficial to appeal to an audience they may not be currently accessing. Seems like a creative way to reach new cruisers. Obviously the demographic for Project Runway is one Celebrity wants to reach.

  • 1 month later...

For those who care, the season premiere is this Thursday, August 20th:

Celebrity looks to be somewhat heavily involved with the show. Not only in providing a grand prize for the winner, but Celebrity President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo will be on the show as well.
