Pam in CA Posted August 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2015 I'm sending some money to my on board account. In the unlikely event that some is left over can I cash it out?Yes. OBC you've sent to yourself is 100% refundable. Just go to the Passenger Services Desk the night before disembarkation and ask for a refund in cash. The alternative is they'll send you a check weeks later and if it's not the right amount, it'll be a hassle to correct.

crochetcruise Posted August 17, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 17, 2015 I'm going to take the transport and additional souvenir funds that I need after disembarkation in the form of Casino Credits, and cash the vouchers by lunchtime Sunday. My former work colleague S. is also staying overnight at the same hotel, and the tables will be turned. HE will have the window room this time, and I'll be in a Superior Double equipped for Handicap Accessibility, so I'LL be the one invited to come visiting! We'll share the taxi out to Tullamarine Airport on the Tuesday morning-I have Access Cab vouchers which give me a 50% discount on the metered fare up to $40 value, anything over that I pay in full. Knowing S., he'll probably treat me to morning tea before I board my flight to return home, he has an early afternoon flight home.

cb at sea Posted August 17, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Of course you can get your cash back...it's YOUR cash!!! I would simply save my cash and bring it with me, tho!
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 17, 2015 #19 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Sometimes there is a pretty favorable exchange rate for non US cruisers, so they send themselves OBC
Brisbanelionsfan Posted August 17, 2015 Author #20 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Don't understand the benefit of sending yourself OBC? I had the money sent to my OBA because I'm from Australia and our exchange rate from Au dollars to US is very poor at around 78 cents to one US dollar. Princess are giving 90 cents so it makes a lot of sense to send myself the money. Cheers. :D
pusywillow Posted August 17, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Of course you can get your cash back...it's YOUR cash!!! I would simply save my cash and bring it with me, tho! I personally don't like to carry large sums of cash with me. Much better to cash it out in the casino using the vouchers. IMO

Pierlesscruisers Posted August 17, 2015 #24 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Definitely, it is an old saying but it rings true. The more I travel the less clothes I take and the more money I need. Maybe you should go on a nudist cruise then. Wouldn't even need any clothes so you could travel with only a backpack. Would just have to be very careful while eating soup at dinner of course! Tom
pjrockman Posted August 18, 2015 #25 Share Posted August 18, 2015 I plan on buying OBC, as well. We just like everything pre-paid. However, I now have the Princess Visa and I understand that buying Casino Cash doesn't qualify for double points, but it doesn't say that I can't buy OBC with it for double points (unless I missed it, and will be quickly corrected). If so, it will be the same as what cardholders do by cashing in their points after their cruise to maximize the credits. Not sure if my logic is correct. If not, fire away....
