Hi All,

It's my first time posting a review to the forum, but a few people asked and it doesn't seem like there are many recent Majesty reviews so here it goes...

We just got off the 4 day sailing on 8/24. We stayed in stateroom 5593 (interior). The weather was not the best, but it was still really fun.

We arrived at the port around 10:00, and there probably already 50 people in line. They started checking in people in a little bit after that, and then we waited in line to board the ship. They started to let people on right before 11. The first thing we did was purchase the premium drink package which was definitely great to have. We then got lunch in the Windjammer (it was okay-not a ton of selection). We got drinks by the pool and changed into our bathing suits. The week before our cruise, someone posted about the plumbing and sure enough the first bathroom I walk into on the pool deck, the toilet is overflowing with some black liquid. This was the only problem with plumbing I really noticed though the entire cruise though. Muster drill was fine. We ended up having a few too many drinks and went to the Windjammer for dinner. Windjammer was just okay. We went to the 70’s show- it was good but not really our thing. We spent the rest of the night at the Schooner Bar. If you go soon, you should definitely check out their menu of Chandon champagne cocktails (on table tents in the schooner bar- each is $10 if you don’t have a drink package). Amawish and Daniela in the Schooner Bar were super sweet servers and they really took care of us during our cruise.

Shortly after arriving in Nassau, it started pouring and it continued to rain for most of the day. We didn’t have any excursions planned and were just going to walk around a bit. Right as we started walking off the ship, it started raining. Instead, we went to the gym and played Wii bowling in the Schooner Bar. Just a heads up about the gym, if you are over 6 feet tall, you probably won’t be able to use the treadmills as the ceiling is low. Husband tried and then realized his head would be hitting the ceiling. We ate at the Compass Deli and liked the little wraps. I never got around to trying the crepes- wish I would have! We eventually did get to walk around Nassau- mostly just looked in the shops. We went to formal dinner in the main dining room. Our waiter Maurice was really great- probably one of the best ones we’ve ever had. After taking several cruises together, this is the first time they ever sat us with couples around our age (late 20’s/early 30’s). That made dinner a lot more enjoyable. I had the beef tenderloin and the au gratin crepe. I thought they were both really good. I think this is the night we went to the love and marriage game show- we always love that.

I was excited that we made it to Coco Cay- I was getting nervous about the weather. It was overcast pretty much the whole day until about 2 or so. Coco Cay was still great- we had some Coco Loco’s, went to Barefoot Beach and tried to look for stingrays. We found some as well as some cool fish. We also spent a lot of time in the casino this day. We went to the Cocina Mexicana that night. It says $12 per person (all you can eat), however I think most people were able to get the discounted price $9.99. I thought the food was okay- some things definitely better than others. Husband’s fish tacos were ice cold, and my enchilada was deep fried to a crisp. Tacos and nachos were good though. The margaritas were also really good. There was only one server working and he basically had to take care of all the tables himself, so we felt a little bad about that. I think we went to see the comedian this night- I think I’ve seen him before and we felt his material was a little outdated. Some people probably really liked him though.

In Key West, we decided to walk around see about an independent jetski tour. We walked around a lot (it was really sunny and hot), got lunch at Two Friends Patio. It was pretty good food (we just got burgers and crabcake sandwiches). They also had a guitarist/singer playing. Just as we were about to book the jetski tour for 2:30 a huge storm rolled in and they ended up cancelling the 12:30 and 2:30 tours. We were really disappointed, but I do understand why they had to cancel as there was bad lightning (although it never actually stormed). We ended up going to the aquarium and feeding stingrays there. We went back to the dining room for dinner. I had the lasagna and pork- I thought they were both really good. Their flourless chocolate cake is my favorite dessert in the world. They now serve it as part of a little sampler- I told our waiter it was my favorite and he brought me a whole sampler of just the chocolate cake, which was nice. We spent most of the night listening to the piano player in the schooner bar.

We chose to take our bags off the ship. We got a little bit of a late start and didn’t get off the ship until 8. Once we got off the ship and into the terminal, we had to wait quite a bit (about 30 minutes). Not sure what was going on, but after that initial wait it was an easy process. On the plus side, we did get to see a waterspout form over the ocean.

All and all it was a great, quick cruise for the right price- just wish the weather had been better (but what can you do?) We paid a total of $747 for two people. Not sure if we will do an inside cabin again (this was our 2nd time) as it was just too gloomy and we never knew what time of day it was. We felt the service on this ship was really great and maybe that’s because it is a smaller ship. Cruise director Michelle was entertaining as well. Would love to go back on the Majesty again after all her improvements. Feel free to ask any questions and I will try to answer them!

I was on this sailing also. We were asked about the Cocina Mexicana while we were eating lunch in the windjammer during the second day. We considered it but decided not to since we like the MDR.

I was happy to see your review, as I'm sailing on MJ in October, and as you mentioned, there haven't been a lot of recent reviews. It sounds like you had a relaxing and good trip, in spite of the weather. I'm hoping for the same.

Thanks again for posting:cool:

We also were on this cruise and, as stated, we also had a great time, even with all the rain. Our day in Nassau sounds the same. Didn't get off the ship until around 4 because of rain and just walked around downtown. Not very impressive. Went back out after dinner (early seating) to try and get a picture of the ship in the dark. Got some, but was too close to get a really good one. Our trip to Coco Cay was late morning and as our tender was pulling into the island it started to thunder and saw lightning out over the water. We walked around a little bit, checked the straw market, wasn't impressed with the lunch buffet, and since it was still lightning (and being from Florida where we have nasty lightning) we headed back to ship. Of course as soon as we got back the sun came out!! Key West just walked around.

I was really surprised when we got back to see that people had gotten emails stating the 28th ship date was going to be delayed as we did not see or smell any problems. We were on deck 9 and everything was fine. Our room steward was a hoot. She kept everything clean and was fun to talk to each day. Our wait staff was also fun and our table mates, tho much younger than us, were fun to be with.

We had carried on our luggage so we left the ship around 7:30. Walked out with no lines and no problems. We had parked in the terminal and were on the road back home by 8. Major traffic but no problems.

All in all, a good time was had by all. Other than rain, which no one can predict or do anything about, all was good.

I was on the Aug 24 sailing solo in a JS and it was a great cruise. I had a very relaxing week. The crew and staff were great. When I boarded, they had put the wrong drink package sticker on my Seapass card but Guest Services corrected it without demanding I prove which one I had. As for the sewage problem last week, I asked Capt Rune what happened and he said they had tried a new pipe de-scaler and it worked too well. All the scale deposits ended up stuck on one section on deck 2 as it had no where to go. LOL. Poor Chief Engineer Tommy had to work 27 hours straight locating the clog. then they had to cut out that section of pipe and replace it. Capt Rune was also paying very close attention to T.S. Erika, the delayed departure could have been due to trying to see where she was going to go and at what strength. But I'm guessing. I love the smaller ships and I'm glad I'll be able to sail on MJ again in the future.

Nice to read your review. How did people know there even was a discounted price and if you qualified for it?

You didn't mention anything about the nightlife?(besides schooner bar)

Wondering if you attended any or had any recommendations or observations about what to do and where to go during the evenings?

I can help you there. My favorite places onboard:

1) Viking Crown Lounge - Deck 13 - they will sometimes have some live music here. If not, the views and atmosphere are great here. I also like the bar.

2) Boleros Lounge, Deck 7 - there is usually a great Latin Band that plays here. Sometimes the reggae band plays as well.

3) Main Pool Bar, Deck 11

The Shops of Centrum are on Deck 5, along with the Casino Royale and the Schooner Bar, also cool places to hang out. A Chorus Line Lounge is also on Deck 5 (and 6 and 7), where the shows are held.

I am guessing it is the VCL where the disco/nightclub is as well late nite similar to other ships? Although I thought I had read somewhere there was a nightclub on deck 8 where they had a dj/nightclub?!

Check the Cruise Compass. When we were onboard, they used the Spectrum on deck 8 aft.

Taking this 4 day cruise on Her Majesty for the third time. Glad to see the good reviews (other than plumbing). My very first and second cruises were on Her Majesty. One question though: We are docked in Nassua from 8:00AM til 11:59PM. Since we will be there all day and all night, will the casino on board be open or closed?

Paulette3028-

The server who works the Cocina Mexicana walked around the compass deli letting us know about the discount during the day. He said it was a special rate for just that might at first but I think honored it any day if he talked to you.

Hi,

We somehow spent most of our time at the Schooner Bar (surprisingly- usually we are more "dance party" people, but it was close to our cabin on the 5th floor). We thought the Piano player/singer was good.

We did go to the Spectrum a few times, but there wasn't always a ton of people there. The Quest was fun to watch, although we did not actually participate this time.

We stopped by Boleros a few times as well- that seemed pretty lively at times.

The party on the pool deck sailing away from Nassau was really popular and fun.

On our particular sailing, on the night we went the Viking Crown was empty. However, the bartender said the last sailing it was packed- I think it just depends on your particular cruise.

Definitely go to the Love and Marriage Game Show. Check out the other nightly shows- although we weren't huge fans they are worth trying out (you can always leave).

Hope that helps!

For the folks asking about nightlife/disco:

The Disco is located in the lounge on Deck 8 aft. The Viking Crown is unique on this ship is it is fairly narrow, but you can walk all the way around the funnel in it and see out all directions except for the rock wall.

On the shorter cruises the deck party is also pretty fun. I agree with the OP that the schooner bar is a nice place to go in the evening as well!

Nighttime Karaoke, also.
