The roll call get together ended around 3:30, in anticipation of the upcoming muster drill. I made my way back to the cabin to find that Patti had already completed unpacking, so we just hung out until 4:15 when the muster drill started. Our muster station was in the Ovation Theater, so there was no standing out in the hot sun for us. The muster drill was over fairly quickly, so our cruise was about to officially begin. We decided to watch our sail away from Miami out on our “secret” deck. Here’s a shot looking down at the crew area on the bow of the ship…..

We have pushed away from the pier, and the thrusters are pushing us sideways so that we are clear of the Carnival Glory, and we can proceed to the turning basin, and turn around, before heading out to sea…..

So glad to see I'm not the only riser on a Saturday morning - what a great way to start the day with more updates on your review. I spent the past two weekends reading all your previous ones. I could barely wait for you to return from this last cruise so I could read all about it. :D

Hey Jeff! Great start, sailed her twice and loved the ship. How many pics did you end up taking? On our Sunshine cruise I thought I was taking a lot but only ended up with about 350, I was disappointed, thought I had taken so many more....

We had some time before our first dinner, so Ryan and I went to check out the Winner’s Luck casino. He went to play some slots, and I played blackjack. After an hour or so Ryan had lost a little, and I was up $100. I’ll take it!

Soon it was time to head to our first dinner aboard the Breeze. We were at table #749, a booth for 4, which is what I requested, and what we received. We were on the upper level of the Blush Restaurant, which was all the way aft. Thinking back, I should have refined my request a bit more by asking to be on the lower level, and in the midship, (Sapphire), dining room, since our cabins were all the way forward. Our booth had solid walls on three sides, making it feel like a closet, and had no view of the lower level at all. I made my bed, so we’ll deal with it.

CB0426.JPG

Our wait staff wasn’t the best we have had by far, but they tried, and it wasn’t entirely their fault. Across the aisle from us were two tables of ten with a large family group. Some of them came on time, some came ten minutes late, some much later than that. They could not and would not sit still. Even after placing their orders, they would get up and change places and even tables, which I could see was driving our wait staff nuts. They would wander in and out and block the aisles, making it difficult for the staff to work. They were spending so much time dealing with them, that at times we felt ignored. I probably should have talked to the maitre d’ but I didn’t want to put any more stress on them that they already had. Again, we’ll deal with it. Hey, we’re on a cruise after all.

And my last rant will be on the lighting in the dining room. Those big beautiful chandeliers were lit ORANGE. It felt like Halloween in there every night, or something out of the Nightmare before Christmas. Now, I know that those lights could have been lit WHITE, which is what they were when we went to the Sea Day Brunch the next morning, and it looked far more elegant. But…ORANGE? Really??

I have to apologize in advance. With the musical chairs being played across the aisle, the lighting, maybe we were tired, or maybe we were really hungry, but we failed miserably with the food porn pictures this night. Being that we would be ordering off the American Table / Feast menus this cruise, I wanted to get pictures of everything. Rest assured it will be better the rest of the way.

Patti started off with the cream of sun ripened tomato soup…..

CB0427.JPG

Followed by an order (as a starter), of bacon mac n cheese…..

CB0428.JPG

She also had a romaine salad and the everyday salmon entrée. She declined any dessert tonight. I started out with the Maryland corn chowder……

CB0429.JPG

Followed by a shrimp cocktail, and order of fried shrimp, and a pork chop from the everyday menu, which was really good. For dessert I had the strawberry parfait……

CB0430.JPG

Ryan had the bacon mac n cheese and the fried shrimp.

Here is the entertainment schedule for our itinerary…..

Since we had no desire to see the Welcome Aboard show, and we were tired, we walked around a little before calling it a night. There was dancing in the Breeze Atrium with the music of Azucar Morena…..

We've only ever sailed out of NY, which is always a spectacular sight, but I have to say I'm liking the beautiful view of the Miami sail-away very much; gotta love a palm tree :)

Thanks for following along! I'm up early because I've kept you guys waiting long enough!! :p

Miami is a great port to sail from, but New York will always be my favorite! :)

Always enjoy your reviews and learn something new from each of them as I study up for my first ever cruise in January!!

Thanks for reading!! I'm sure you'll pass with flying colors in January!!:D

Thanks Jimbo!! We, well mostly Patti, took around 2,000 photos during the cruise part of our vacation, and probably a 1,000 or so more during our pre and post cruise escapades. Of course not every one of the cruise pics will be posted, but somewhere between 50 - 60% will.
