We were last on the Connie in 2004, how has she changed?

Did a British Isles/Norway cruise on her 11 years ago and fell in love with the ship, circumstances have put us on other ships since then, but we may jump back in with a short cruise on the Constellation next spring.

What are the major differences in her since then?

Our favorite spot on the ship was the Thalassotherapy pool, with the big "faucets" and the racks you could lay on. Is that still there and part of the standard package?

Thanks for the updates!

Lots of changes, but Thalassotherapy pool still there. Here are a few changes: Tuscan Grille has been added where the Flower Shop used to be. Aqua Class and Blu added. Cabins added where Kids Club used to be and on deck 3 where the Movie Theater was. Al Bacio added where Cove and Internet lounge was. Captains have changed. Micheal's Club now a private lounge for high Suites and Zenith members. You will now find Capt. Tasos and Capt Nicholas. Both are wonderful. These are a few changes since the ship was "Solsticised", but it is still a great ship.

Great stuff, thanks for this! Very glad the pool hasn't been touched.

I don't recall the smoking thing, but less is always appreciated by us.

The shorter cruises in the Spring have become popular with the college set. There were some pretty horrendous reviews from earlier this year.

To be fair there are some changes that many consider negative. Increase in passenger numbers and remodeling has created less public space. I miss sitting at the large deck 3 windows. no dedicated place for movies. There has been a reduction in Activities Staff and waiters now serve more tables and cabin attendants are assigned more cabins. Bulgari bath products were not available in 2004, but were added a few years ago for Suite passengers. These products have been discontinued. The "ship within a ship" concept is alive and well on Connie. Those who can afford to pay more will get more, especially those in top Suites. Changes have been made to reduce costs and are reflective of an industry wide trend.

Celebrity initiated a major smoking policy change in 2008. Now smoking is prohibited in all inside venues (yes -- even the casino is totally non-smoking).

Since you were last on the Constellation drink package options have also been introduced and select (anytime dining) has been instituted as an option in the MDR.

So, do you think the people you will meet on the Connie this time will be as nice as the people you met on the Connie the last time?

:D

Agree with this. Unfortunately trying to turn the Millennium class ships, into what works for another class of ships when they weren't designed for that wasn't good. My view is they took away what a lot of worked well, and then added compromises.
