Was sooo looking forward to a day at HMC. Ugghhh... I purposely booked this cruise so I could go here. Even purchased the cabana. Go to Carnival website to check my booking and purchase FTTF & boom HMC is gone and replaced by Nassau. Weird thing is I don't cruise until DEC 2016! That's a looong time in advance to already reroute a cruise. Called Carnival & of course I got a " We are so sorry ma'am. We will of course be refunding your score excursion of cabana rental". Blah blah blah. I did ask why it would have already been changed so far in advance & the woman said there was just a generic statement in there something about the port. I appreciated her help but booooo. Guess that just means Ill have to book yet another cruise to HMC. Poor me ;)

I am sorry to hear this for you as HMC is obviously the better option :(. It is a long time out to be changing things up but I guess it happens. Being this far out, can you find another cruise around the same time that will go to HMC?

Hopefully you will have the opportunity to get to HMC another time and also get the cabana (so worth it!!!).

I would cancel, you are now getting a cruise with less value. If you take a look at the pride out of Baltimore, they have cruises every other week to HMC and those weeks are higher priced then the ones without HMC. People will pay more for HMC, so unless you receive a reduction in price of your cruise, I would cancel as you are overpaying now for this cruise.

I would not be happy either but sailing out of Baltimore in December will have 1 1/2 days of cold or cool weather each way.

would seriously consider cancelling and look for another cruise that still offers HMC. We are doing Glory in a few weeks and it still has HMC.

I'm sorry to hear that. I would be bummed too! We were suppose to go to HMC on my first cruise, but due to weather, they sent us to Freeport instead. I was disappointed. Still have not gotten to HMC yet, but hope to someday.

This is such a shame. I can't stand Nassau and HMC is so beautiful!

yep, I like HMC too.....but to make lemonade out of your new lemon (Nassau) check out a trip to Cable Beach.....taxi or bus can get you there in 20 -30 minutes, and it's one of the nicer stretches of beach on the island..... has 3 hotels (maybe a day pass?) and a casino.......

To cd at sea, do you book cruises without looking at the ports? I would say no. The cruiser was not complaining about the change, he was just stating what happened. If HMC was the one port I really wanted to go to I would also choose that cruise.

I'm not sure it's that different. We originally booked the Pride for Nov 15, 7 day cruise not going to HMC, then changed to Oct 18, 8 day cruise going to HMC and it was only $240 more for all 3 of us. It is "more" but there is an extra day and it is 1 month earlier so the weather will be nicer out of Baltimore. And the 8 day cruise actually worked out to cost a few dollars less per night than the 7 day cruise.

Never, ever book a cruise just for a specific port....in the cruise contract it clearly states that they don't have to take you to any of the ports on your itinerary...they can change, rearrange, cancel, replace....at will.

They cruise contract does say that but to say never, ever book a cruise just for a specific port seems silly. What if someone really wants to go to that port? Most of the time the ships don't change their itinerary. If that is where you want to go then how else would you hedge your bets to get there other than booking for that specific port? You're certainly not going to book a different itinerary and hope it gets changed to the one you prefer.

I understand what you are saying and mean no disrespect.

While HMC is an exception as it is a private island, I read over and over again people complaining "the only reason I booked this cruise was to go to_____" Often times that blank is filled in with a tender port.

So to answer your question, fly there.

We have been to HMC three times (3 for 3) and had booked our New Year's cruise on the Glory because we would be going back to HMC (had my cabana booked also). Carnival has changed Amber Cove for HMC. I wasn't very happy myself but Amber Cove will be a new port for us so I have stopped pouting :p

I would be even more disappointed if we were to go to HMC and not been able to tender in which has never happened to me and I was probably due.

I understand that mother nature or a mechanical problem can cause an itinerary change and stuff does happen.

For them to change HMC for Nassau for neither reason would really suck.

My cruise for Jan. 3rd Carnival is changing us from HMC to Nassua. Happened to my cruise last Jan. on the Splendor as well. My PVP says it is not in the stars for me to see HMC. Booked a resort for a day in Nassau instead. It will end up costing me around $200 for me and my wife to have a beach day. If would have kept HMC $0 for a beach day, since neither of us drink.
