mtebor Posted September 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2015 I have been redeeming points for onboard credit and was wondering what happens if I have a negating balance at the end of the cruise. I currently have about $800 after I misapplied a redemption. It was supposed to be 500 off payment but I put in $500 onboard credit. I called as soon as I realized mistake but it couldn't be changed
preschool teacher Posted September 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2015 doesn't OBC not used get returned to you at the end of a cruise?
caddie1 Posted September 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2015 Go to casino and draw the cash on your card. You will pay a % which is either 3 or 5 % not quite sure but at least you will get the cash rather than spending it for the sake of it on things you may not need or want. cincicruisers Posted September 20, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2015 I had a negative balance on one trip. They will put a credit on the credit card you used for your Trip. It won't cost anything, and they put the credits my card the Monday following our cruise.

That only happens if the OBC is refundable OBC, and I believe that OBC from credit card points is non refundable, so getting the cash from the casino before the end of the cruise is a good option. I believe Visa points OBC is still considered refundable. If it does get credited back to the credit card, you will lose double points, so perhaps it's best to take any remaining OBC out in cash anyway. molly361 Posted September 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2015 OBC from Visa points is REFUNDABLE- They will issue a credit to the card you use when you check in. If that was a RCL Visa card double points will be subtracted just like double points are given when you make an RCL purchase. You can go to guest services and cash it out on the last day instead. Darn slow fingers Ellen:p Just did this 2 weeks ago. Credit took about a week to go back to our card (not a B of A one) Edited September 20, 2015 by molly361

Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted September 20, 2015 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2015 We were able to get a refund of our OBC from VISA points on the last night. [i did not want them to take it off my card and lose points.]
newbiecruiser09 Posted September 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted September 20, 2015 Wait til you get on board to buy things like drinks packages, spa appts and speciality dining. THis will all come out of OBC if purchased on board.
Rare orville99 Posted September 20, 2015 #14 Share Posted September 20, 2015 It is both refundable and you can draw it out at the casino. If you have $500 left, it will cost you $25 to draw it out (5%). If you let it refund to your CC, you will lose double points (1,000 or $10) but you get your entire $500 back. Cheaper in the long run to let it refund.

SamInWa Posted September 21, 2015 #17 Share Posted September 21, 2015 I will tell you what happened to me on my April 2012 cruise. I had $100 of on board credit from a future booking cruise. I had $150 of on board credit from my Royal Caribbean credit card. I spent about $175 on board on various purchases. I got a refund to my credit card of $125 a few days after the cruise was all over. So from this I can deduce that they first applied my non-refundable future cruise credit, then my credit card credit... and finally they returned the unused portion from the credit card. I went to Guest Services the night before we disembarked about 5:00 (before the crowds started) and received a cash refund of what was left....$67.00 :D
