So you're suggesting that if "For The Record" was simply a topless revue that we could bring the kids. But since it's an explicit live sex show we should probably leave them behind?

I was asking a question, making a comparison. I'm saying in both cases the kids should not be there.

I wouldn't hesitate to take my 12 year old to something like this. I also took her to Rock of Ages on BA in August. I did not take her when she was 10, but at 12 think she can handle it just fine. Everyone has to make their own decision based on their own child's maturity level and their personal sensitivity and beliefs.

I don't know a 13 year old that hasn't seen a boob but should we parade porn in front of them?

Female breasts are NOT sex organs so to call a bare breast porn is completely incorrect

Biology 101 doc.....they are mammary glands whose sole purpose is to feed offspring

For the record doc......they are called breasts or mammary glands

Hmmm... already booked with 13 boy and 15 girl. I'm not sure I saw any disclaimer when booking online, unlike Rock of Ages on the BA.

So,,, the show is a mash-up of John Hughes movies like the Breakfast Club, 16 Candles, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (movie rating R, PG-13, PG, PG-13). It was an excellent show. Very brief bursts of profanity, but it was not pervasive and definitely NOT like Rock of Ages. They are all teenage coming of age shows.

The actors do multiple costume changes on stage during the show, a couple in the school locker room which involved stripping down to their undies and parading around a bit. Kids would probably ignore it,,, parents less so.

We attended the show on Wednesday night, and there were a couple of tables that walked out. There were also multiple tables with teens and pre-teens who stayed and enjoyed the show.

Definitely not Rock of Ages. And definitely not subject matter like Priscilla Queen of the Desert on the Epic.

Excerpts from the Freestyle Daily:

"For the Record: The Brat Pack (PG16)"

"Adult themes, coarse language and sexually suggestive scenes are used throughout the show and therefore is not recommend for children."

I will say it again, it is NOT Rock of Ages. And there are no pre-show announcements and warnings in the theater like Rock of Ages or Priscilla.

That's what I saw - the PG16. I erroneously stated it said 16 and over.

This seems to be less of an issue than originally presented. I really appreciate everyone chiming in with information from the recent sailing!

The following link is to a advertisement NCL did a while back. This is NOT the actual show on the Escape. This is NOT filmed in the Supper Club. These are NOT the current actors in the show. And, as an advertisement, it is meant to draw attention to the show,,, so it is a bit dramatized. But will give you a feel for the actual stage shown on the Escape.

How long is the show and what time did it start at? Do you think it is necessary to pre-reserve or do they hold spots for walkups?

You have to reserve. It ran about an hour and a half. I think the start times were 5:45 and 9. We went to the late show.

Do you think it is possible to get reservations onboard for a later showing; or is this something you really need to pre-reserve before the trip? If we went to this show I'd prefer to use OBC to pay for it.

edit; thanks for the info, did not realize there was also an early time. That may work for us.

I think it is easier to just see which nights the show is offered and the times and then just pick when you feel it will best work out with your plans and pre book it.

NCL typically allows people to line up for possible seating last 10 minutes or so before show time, but no guarantees you'll get in or where you might be seated. I have not seen anyone comment on this yet for the Escape.

The show is offered on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Friday. 5:15 and 8:30 all nights except Friday which is a 7:30 only show. I think this is the correct info.:)

Edit to say that our reservation is an 8:30, no 7 or 10 pm offered, so either Lily is incorrect, or they have changed the schedule for our sailing in January. Schedule changes for shows are not uncommon on new ships. Same thing happened on the Getaway.

It sounds like they changed the schedule. Our reservation was for 9pm - not 10. We lined up at 8, and the doors opened at 8:30. We sat right in front of the stage, but it really isn't necessary to sit there. The cast moves around all over the theater. Any seat would be fine.

Oops, yes I mistyped. Thanks for the reminder to line up an hour before, at least if you want a better selection of seating. Did you have any choice at all?

Yeah - but it's been a few years (or decades). From what I recall, I don't think I'd think twice if I saw a 13 year old watching it, so maybe my memory is failing me.

Where did common sense fail me? I know NCL mentions age appropriateness for other show descriptions, and this one had no mention of it.

All of my kids have seen the breakfast club several times, and the youngest are 12. ETA, all of my kids have seen every John Hughes movie, as well.

No, you didn't make a typo - I did! I corrected my error when I edited my post.

We weren't given a choice of seating, but we were first in line, so I guess that had a lot to do with where we were seated. A man came in right before show time and was seated all the way to the far right of the stage. He had a hissy fit and demanded to be moved to a better seat since he booked the show "6 months ago" (which we all know you can't!). There was no place to move him ... I'm not sure if he expected someone else to be told to move, or what. Anyway, he eventually sat down and shut up :D there really isn't a bad seat because the cast is moving all over the theater.

The shows on the 3-day were at 5:45 and 9:00. You can always use the touch screens on board to see how many seats are available and decide if you want to commit to the show.

Main seating starts 30 mins before show time. Havens guest are seated before the main doors open. We were one of the first non-haven guest and the hostess recommended a seat in the center of the 2nd level about 4 rows of tables back so we could see the main stage and both mini stages mid-theater. Those seats were great.

1 showing a pre booked and the other I booked while on the ship, it seems to be very popular and will fill up fast

IMO the best seats are the mini booths facing the stage slightly raised off the walkway.

No neck strains as all the action is in front of you or to the front side.

Main floor some action is behind you.

We were at the first table both times we went. We got the piece of cake.
