Rare conandrob240 Posted November 22, 2015 #53 Share Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) So, the other three happened what a few days ago? and they just ignored it? Waited until the ship was almost home? Edited November 22, 2015 by conandrob240

Rare WrittenOnYourHeart Posted November 22, 2015 #55 Share Posted November 22, 2015 You are welcome to your opinion as far as 4/4000' date=' and I am welcome to my opinion as to timing. At this point, we are both guessing. You are spreading unsubstantiated optimism. :)[/quote'] I'd rather spread "unsubstantiated optimism" than unsubstantiated panic. Arzeena Posted November 22, 2015 #57 Share Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) I don't think that was their point. The point is when you have a high elderly population, the likelihood of a medical issue occurring goes up, not that only elderly people get hurt/sick, etc. probably. Arzeena Posted November 22, 2015 #60 Share Posted November 22, 2015 Anyone on board know if there is a group on the ship that need dialysis, or any related illness such as kidney failure, diabetes, etc? We have been on cruises where there were groups that had pre-existing conditions. If that is the case, it would be highly possible for four people to be critically ill. We were on one cruise, and every port there was an ambulance waiting for the ship to arrive. At one port, two people were taken off ill. So it is not unexpected. I believe this is one of the dialysis at sea cruises.

doog61 Posted November 22, 2015 #62 Share Posted November 22, 2015 When we left St.Martin on Wednesday the Captain said we would be going 17 knots the rest of the way home on Friday I noticed on the TV we were going over 24 knots so I believe there was a problem with an illness already there were no Alpha announcement until this morning and then the Captain informed us of the illnesses at his noon update we saw 3 ambulances one left without emergency lights on the other 2 left with them on could see one individual who appeared to be sitting up when they took him off we did not see if anybody got into the ambulance that left with the lights off there was also an ambulance in San Juan. This was a very old crowd nothing wrong with that but this is to be expected when there are probably 3/4 of the passengers late fifties and above. There is absolutely no Noro virus issues those boarding be prepared to wash your hands and sanitize constantly they do a good job trying to avoid any illness. wendychloecruiser Posted November 22, 2015 #64 Share Posted November 22, 2015 From a VERY reliable source, on average there is one death per week on a cruise.

Nobody got in the ambulance which left with no lights. The people waiting behind the gate sudden left before the stretcher came back empty. alexkrn46 Posted November 22, 2015 #66 Share Posted November 22, 2015 The medical center is not a hospital, they can care for a few patients 24 hors a day but 4 is a bit much. while there are 4000 passengers there are staff who could be ill too. I do not think there is anything fishy.
time4u2go Posted November 22, 2015 #67 Share Posted November 22, 2015 I understand the need. But I am still thinking it is unlikely there would be 4 unrelated medical emergencies all at exactly the same time on a ship. We'll see. Who said they were all at exactly the same time? doog61 Posted November 22, 2015 #68 Share Posted November 22, 2015 4th ambulance just left with a passenger sitting up on stretcher no lights on they did not appear to be in a hurry.
time4u2go Posted November 22, 2015 #69 Share Posted November 22, 2015 From a VERY reliable source, on average there is one death per week on a cruise. Hardly surprising considering there are many tens of thousands of people cruising at any given time.

Cruisin'4Us Posted November 22, 2015 #71 Share Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) I'd rather spread "unsubstantiated optimism" than unsubstantiated panic. Please show my quote indicating panic, that I would cancel our upcoming cruise, the sky is falling, etc. I recall saying that I believe these cases may be related due to timing, and hoped for a speedy recovery for those effected. You read more into my comment than is there. Edited November 22, 2015 by Cruisin'4Us

yogimax Posted November 22, 2015 #73 Share Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) This was a very old crowd Precisely. This was exactly what I said back in post #16. We have been on cruises with four medical emergencies. It is not unusual, but folks will continue to spread the conspiracy theories. Rare conandrob240 Posted November 22, 2015 #74 Share Posted November 22, 2015 From a VERY reliable source, on average there is one death per week on a cruise. Yeah, of the hundreds of cruises every week. I highly doubt you mean a death per week per cruise ship.
Rare conandrob240 Posted November 22, 2015 #75 Share Posted November 22, 2015 There's no panic, there's no conspiracy theory. I just simply commented it would be odd that these 4 things are unrelated and a coincidence. If it is, so be it.
