Spirit of Tasmania

Recommended Posts

Last week I was in Melbourne on the Diamond Princess. We were on one side of the pier and the Spirit of Tasmania ferries used the other side so this shouldn't effect cruise ships.

That's the norm, not sure how any cruise ship will be effected.

They only missed a single sailing after bringing the spare ferry up.

Cruise ships berth on the other side so they are not affected.

The loading bridge has been removed for repairs and the actual ferry has a 3 week repair timetable. So for that time there will just be one sailing per day.

It came very very close to being beached on the day. Several co-workers were down on the beach filming it and their videos are most impressive - you can really hear the loud crunch as the loading bridge was busted. It was blown around so fast and was heading parallel along the beach on a 30 degree roll. Thats when it then slammed forward and straight into the wharf.
