dockman Posted February 3, 2016 #27 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Maybe the expert wasn't assured China's boom was going to be maintained? One and a half BILLION people represents a potential HUGE market. The growth in Chinese cruisers over past few years has been huge but hasn't even begun to scratch the surface. I suspect eventually there will be a lot more winter cruises out of china, japan, taiwan and korean to the warm weather spots like vietnam and thailand that will be their version of Carib cruises. The ships will be built and operated to appeal to asian tastes with big casinos and asian food/staff/languages. Here's a pretty detailed report from CLIA if anyone is interested: http://www.cruising.org/docs/default-source/research/asiacruisetrends_2014_finalreport-4.pdf?sfvrsn=

KirkNC Posted February 3, 2016 #29 Share Posted February 3, 2016 I put mine in an IRA and just forget about it and the $120 dividend. We did the same, it has probably paid for itself between OBC and dividends.

grayjay Posted February 3, 2016 #31 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Our next cruises on Holland America ships won't be till August and October 2016. Does it mean we'll have to wait until Carnival (hopefully) extends the shareholder benefit because as far as I have read it is only applicable to sailings up to July 31st. ? I Luv Crusin Posted February 5, 2016 #34 Share Posted February 5, 2016 I put mine in an IRA and just forget about it and the $120 dividend. I bought my shares piecemeal and paid between 31.35 and 44.51 (for 2). I won't ever sell them. Buy low, hold, sell high. In the next 2 years I'll have $600 OBC. I JUST printed off the Shareholder Benefit and it says that "The benefit is applicable on sailings THROUGH July 31, 2016". I have 4 more cruises booked from Sept 2016 through April 2018 and I was going to go ahead and request my OBC. Now I don't know what to do! I guess I could try and see what happens. For those who requested OBC in advance, did you send separate letters or one listing your cruises and booking numbers? I have a price alert set for under $43. I don't know if it will hit the 52 week low of $42, but $43 seems like a great deal to me. I bought 50 shares since o had a feeling it might go down, I should have waited a tad longer. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

serendipity1499 Posted February 5, 2016 #44 Share Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) My DW convinced me to buy several years ago at $24.00 -- I still thank her everytime we cruise :):) Smart DW.. Hope you buy her a gift each time you thank her..:D;) Everyone on CC had been touting the CCL stock for years.. I, who normally is the gambler in the family, was leery of purchasing it.. Finally in 2009 I asked DH if he thought it was good idea...DH,who is usually not a gambler, said go buy it.. So glad we did..:D:D Edited February 5, 2016 by serendipity1499
dockman Posted February 6, 2016 #45 Share Posted February 6, 2016 Still waiting for a $35 or less price point. :) good luck with that...i suspect it might take another concordia type event to go that low...but i have been known to be wrong on many stocks...as have about 99% of the so called "experts". I don't expect it anytime soon, Hal But above that it doesn't fit my portfolio and I'm not convinced cruising will continue to be our main vacation choice. Rare SLOTheta Posted February 6, 2016 #47 Share Posted February 6, 2016 It dropped below $43 today and I was in a meeting. It might hit the 52 week low. If it's still hovering around $43 on Monday, I'm pulling the trigger on my remaining 50 shares Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
SeaBands Posted February 6, 2016 #48 Share Posted February 6, 2016 think of all the OBCs you will get in coming years as well as dividends. Won't be selling mine with 3 cruises ahead and about $600 OBCs.
