summer slope Posted February 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2016 Thinking about playing Bingo on our upcoming cruise and wondered how much it will cost.
catl331 Posted February 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2016 I haven't played in a couple of years, but IIRC it's something like $10 for a single card, $25 for a set of 3, $35 for two sets of 3.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2016 Those were the prices on our Eurodam cruise a couple of months ago.
Hows the Serenity Posted February 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2016 What can you win on bingo - havent played for about 40 years Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
OceanTraveller4ever Posted February 13, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2016 I think the prizes are apportioned according to how many folks are playing, and how fast a card got the numbers. When I played the prizes were between 128 to 256 or so.
Lizzie68 Posted February 13, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2016 What can you win on bingo - havent played for about 40 years Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk It depends on how many are playing. My DH once won over $500.
OceanTraveller4ever Posted February 13, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2016 (edited) I have no proof of how much, but I would estimate HAL nets a large percent of the money. That is the way it is....Buena suerte to all.... Edited February 13, 2016 by jpelleti007
Rare kazu Posted February 13, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2016 It depends on how many are playing. My DH once won over $500. Exactly :). Depends upon number of people and which game. Prizes grow with each game (there are 4 games at each bingo session normally)

Does your one card (for $10) entitle you to only 1 game, or can you play the whole session with that card?
catl331 Posted February 13, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2016 You keep that card for the session.

lynn2002 Posted February 14, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Would my 12 year old daughter be allowed to play? If not, would she be allowed to sit with me whilst I played?
Rare kazu Posted February 14, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Would my 12 year old daughter be allowed to play? If not, would she be allowed to sit with me whilst I played? She would certainly be allowed to be there with you. I think if you are there she can play if you buy the card. I have seen young people there playing and it seemed the adult bought the tickets but I don't know the age restriction - if there is one - just what I have seen
Hflors Posted February 14, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 14, 2016 I played bingo on Amsterdam on our last cruise. I think it was $35.00 for 4 games playing 6 cards. (the punch thru kind). I actually won $110.00 of course less the $35.00 it cost me to play, but it was exciting to be able to call bingo! There was a man next to me. He could hardly speak English. Well somehow not only did he buy the 6 cards, but they sold him an extra 3 for the last game which was fill in the whole card and it was supposed to be some big prize. The poor man couldn't play all the cards so I picked up the three extra cards and started to punch them out. At the end of the game he needed one number for the big prize. They called the number next to the number he needed. I felt so bad for him. Before we left he did thank me for looking out for his extra card. I thought it was very nice of him. sprockie Posted February 14, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Would my 12 year old daughter be allowed to play? If not, would she be allowed to sit with me whilst I played? I buy the tickets (3) and my kids and I each play a card. I wouldn't make the mistake of having them call bingo if they won though -- likely wouldn't award the prize to an under age person. Rare Hlitner Posted February 14, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 14, 2016 Once upon a time the cruise lines (including HAL) used Bingo as one more fun activity. Cards were relatively cheap, and nearly all the proceeds from card sales were returned to the passengers in the form of cash prizes. Now, the cards are pretty expensive and the cruise lines skim-off a substantial percentage for their own profit. Tis a shame. Hank

If the kids are punching the cards, it's the adult who bought the card that is the legal player, and must claim any prize. Hank All I will say is that HAL returns a much bigger proportion than Oceania does and, it costs more to play on O too.

WELCOME TO CRUISE CRITIC :). And congratulations on your win :D That bingo game is normally separate from the regular ones. One card only and if memory serves it is $20 for the card. Winner gets an inside cabin which they can upgrade. That game can attract people that don't play bingo as well as some of the regulars. Hope you enjoy that cruise you won :) Edited February 16, 2016 by kazu

Don't forget afternoon tea if it's offered. My DD and I always take that in when it's available. Also there are movies on board usually. emaoffive Posted February 17, 2016 #23 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I also won a cruise in December playing Bingo! My husband and I are taking that cruise next month. It is an inside cabin and I didn't upgrade it (I like the idea of it being free!) This is our first cruise traveling without our five children. With them onboard, we always played Bingo, trivia, and went to tea every day. The kids used to go to the movies together. They would also go to the gym together, and now they go to the casino together (my youngest just turned 18!)

Hope you enjoy that cruise you won :) Interesting. So lets assume they sell only 200 cards for that game. At $20 per card that would generate $4000 in revenue. They give out a single prize of an inside cabin on a 7 day cruise. A quick look at 7 day HAL cruises shows many that cost about $600 per person for an inside cabin. So HAL is giving away a prize worth about $1200 (plus or minus) for which they are taking in at least $4000. A good deal for the winner....but a better deal for HAL :).
