gcbranscome Posted February 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Hi! My family and I are going on our first cruise on the Harmony of the Seas next April. We are booked in a family stateroom that happens to be up front of the ship on decK 11. With the ship being so huge, will we really feel much movement up front if the seas are calm or should I switch the stateroom and get 2 rooms in the middle of the ship? Thanks for eveyoneS help! Generally, the thought is lower, mid-ship rooms feel less motion than forward or aft ones.
GUT2407 Posted February 16, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Mid ships. Some prefer lower some higher. You will feel less movement lower but the visual of the waves and horizon are less noticeable higher, so that will vary be person.
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2016 You will feel the sea much more in the front of the ship then either the middle or the back. Keith

If the seas are calm, you won't feel movement anywhere on the ship. However, for a given set of sea conditions, you will feel more movement in the front of a high deck than you would midship and low. marshhawk Posted February 16, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 16, 2016 but maybe you wont even get sea sick at all. do you or anyone else in the family get motion illness on amusement park rides, driving in the car, flying in a plane-if you answer no to these, then more than likely, unless it is rough you wont mind it at all, BUT if you want less motion of the ocean, then book a cabin low and in the center. I book in the front BECAUSE I love to be rocked to sleep.:)
cb at sea Posted February 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2016 If seas are calm, anywhere is fine! If it's moderately rough, midships is good. If it's really rough, you'll feel it everywhere!
gcbranscome Posted February 16, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Thank you everyone! I think I'm going to move more towards the center. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
cruisejunkie76 Posted February 17, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 17, 2016 People always say you Need to have a cabin in the middle and as high as possible. However it actually is midship and as low as possible. I get seasick very easy and never had any issues in the Med Sea or Carribean. I would never do a transatlantic.
