FLL Hotel Pre Cruise

Some reading down the board will find dozens of threads on the topics you have. A common recommendation is the 17th St area, where, for example, our common hotel, the Embassy Suites, is located. There are lots of restaurants in the area.

It is also commonly recommended to to overly focus on the shuttles issue. Taxis are pretty cheap (Uber is cheaper) and plentiful. But if a shuttle is a requirement, the common recommendation is to check out sunny.org, which lists the hotels in the area with their amenities, like shuttles.

Have not stayed there yet, but we have booked the Hyatt Place 17th St Convention Center for our November cruise. We made the reservation through http://www.valuetrips.com/AMS/FL/F17.htm

Have never used value trips either, but they look legit. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2287897

Good choice, close to restaurants, port, and airport.

We've stayed at Hyatt Place 17th St. I would definitely stay there again. We booked through valuetrips.com. They have a free airport shuttle. They also have a shuttle to the pier which I think is $7 pp. We chose to take a cab instead.

If you stay in the 17th street area, which is generally the preferred area for pre-cruise, then a shuttle is a non-issue. The airport, cruise port, and hotels are all within a few miles. Even if I had a free shuttle, I would opt for a taxi which is very cheap and much more convenient. Uber is even cheaper and more convenient than a taxi. What I'm trying to say is that you don't want to limit yourself only to hotels with shuttle service. We have had good luck using priceline and hotwire for hotels in the downtown area.

We are looking for a hotel, in Fort Lauderdale, for one night, pre Cruise. Preferably with shuttle service from airport and to the Cruise terminal. Also close to restaurants.

We've used the Springhill Suites in Dania Beach several times. Free airport shuttle, free shuttle to the cruise port, free breakfast, and free internet.

In the past, we've always found ourselves staying at the Springhill Suites on Sterling in Dania Beach--a Marriott product. Next month, we are staying across the street at the Hampton Inn...just got a much better rate. We always seem to go in the "VERY High Season"--either New Year's weekend or Spring Break--when hotels in Fort Lauderdale can be very expensive.

We really don't need to be in the heart of the tourist area of Fort Lauderdale--we're not there to sightsee--we just need a nice hotel for the night and nearby restaurants and easy trip from the airport and to the ship...and this area fits the bill--and often comes in at a much lower price than 17th street hotels.

The Springhill has free breakfast, free wifi, free airport shuttle and free port shuttle...and there is a very large shopping center with a number of reasonably priced, decent chain restaurants and fast food right across the street (or right behind the Hampton)...also, a number of other hotels (Quality Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House--with a Best Western Plus and a Comfort Suites just across the freeway)at this intersection as well...TGI Friday, Red Lobster, Sal's Italian, Hollywood Ale House, Dave and Buster's, Sweet Tomatoes, Moonlite Diner all in the shopping center--along with Wendy's...McDonalds, Burger King, Chipotle, Taco Bell and Dunkin' Donuts all out front along Sterling near the hotels--so there's plenty for a lunch or dinner...

Aside from shopping in the center (KMart, BJs, Home Depot, Old Navy, HomeGoods, Ross, Marshalls, Michaels, Old Navy, Foot Locker, etc) or the 18 screen multiplex theater or just relaxing by the hotel pool, there's not much to do or see out there...but, for our simple purposes--relaxing and recovering from, usually, a redeye flight, it works just fine.
