Getting concerned..

The rule on all NCL ships we've been on allows at least 30 minutes of holding chairs. Even with the time limit, you don't have the right to move anybody's stuff away (even on the floor), only the ship staff may do so.

And just to be sure since reading and understanding other people's posts seems hard: I don't spend usually any time on sun deck but when I do (max couple of hours per cruise), I visit hottubs, be away for more than few minutes to get lunch, etc, etc and fully expect others to adhere to the actual rules - not the ones they made up themselves.

Please, show me this cruisers bill of rights that lists what I can and can not do with towels abandoned on chairs.....

I am not talking about moving someones stuff, I am talking about towels. I mentioned I am referring to chairs that DONT have the flip flops, pool bags, books, and other items that signify someone IN THE POOL. Towels left on chairs as place holders for an extended period of time in the morning is what I am referring to. Chair hogging....

Thanks for the responses. I don't need to be right beside the pool (DH and I take turns being in the pool) but from all these posts I have read chairs seem to be a hot commodity. The last couple of cruises we have done have been Disney and had tons of other activities and I guess I am not not certain what to expect.

I agree with you if it is just towels. 9/10 those people won't be back for a VERY long time.

We are both super early birds( I'm at work a little after 5am every day) so I

m normally up, gone to the gym, and ready for the sun at 7am or so. We both love the sun, so we will be in our chairs pretty much the whole day. When we do leave(pool, hot tub, food, drink, etc.) we leave all of our stuff in the chairs to signify that we are coming right back. The longest we are ever both away would be lunch, and since we like the grill, and buffet, its never more than 30 minutes. I feel this is perfectly reasonable. If we ever did leave for longer than that, say to go somewhere different for lunch, or an afternoon show/activity, we would certainly take all of our stuff and leave the chairs.

Someone else said it best. It's the people that get up literally JUST to save chairs with a towel. They get up at 6am, throw 2-3 towels down, and then go eat, shower, have coffee on the balcony, etc and come back at 10am mad because someone moved their towels. That's just plain rude. I even talked to one person that said they set an alarm to get up at 6am, and then went back to sleep until 9 or 10! I just don't understand people sometimes.

This has turned into a chair hogging discussion, which does nothing to answer your original question. I listed a few of the activities in a previous post in this thread. Just like on DCL, there will be a ton of other activities going on. My son who loves to swim spent exactly 10 minutes in the pool on our entire Getaway cruise (which was on embarkation day!) because he was so busy with other things. That's just an example.

I agree with pizza. Cruise ship pools are to small to "swim" just dip in to cool off for a bit. My kids spend most of their time going down water slides.

I think if you want a prime spot in the sun right next to the pool it will be tough but if your okay a few rows back or in the shade you should be fine.

Yes its going to be crowded on sea days around the pool.

Why are people so rude? I understand frustrations but some people get up and get seats early, go have breakfast and come back to the pool, get up and go to the pool, maybe swim, watch the sexy leg contest, use the hot tub....that doesn't give anyone the right to just throw towels off a seat and take it......I wake up early go to the gym, eat breakfast, go back up to my room, shower change in to my swim trunks and go to the pool by 8am and find seats....before anyone complains, its simple....wake up early and get prime seats. if not, deal with finding something else....and lets not pretend people complaining about the seats find something and glue themselves all day long without jumping in the pool, or hitting the hot tub. and if they do.... do you swim with all your stuff? Do you take your towel, flip flops, cover ups, sunscreen, books all to the pool with you? I highly doubt it. Understand if someone was away for hours then I can understand...but if you are paying that close attention to it for that long of a time....maybe a cruise isn't for you. maybe next time you do Vibe or Book a Haven Suite. its that easy :)

Why?? Because there is not supposed to be any saving of chairs, as stated pretty much everywhere. If you are in your room, the gym, the buffet, the casino or pretty much anywhere other than the pool deck, you shouldn't have a chair reserved on the pool deck, period. If you are ON the pool deck using the chair and have left it for a moment for a dip in the pool, ect its a totally different thing. We have all seen people hit the pool deck at 6-8 am, drop towels on multiple chairs and return at 10-11 or later for them. Meanwhile there are people looking for a place to sit. We have all also seen people show up to the pool, spread their stuff out over like 6 chairs... and never use them. They want the "just in case". If you are using the chair fine, but don't expect it to be there after you left it for hours. I will be moving your towel and sitting down.

I dont get upset, but I know the rules, no holding chairs. So, if I see some abandoned towels for some time. I liberate those chairs of those oppressive towels.....

In the dailys, it ssys items will be removed after an hour. What if a parent was watching a child go down a slide? There are many reasons to be gone for more than 5 minutes.

My favorite is when they set up in a few chairs on both sides of pool so they can rotate back and forth depending on where the sun is and if they want shade and sunny spots option the whole day.

Yes I find this hogging of chairs awful -on my 1st cruise aboard the breakaway -I overheard a mom bragging how she saves two chairs in the shade -two also in front of her chairs for the teen children that are sleeping & may not make an appearance until 11 or 12 -& she saves an additional two chairs by the pool it self in the sun -

Worry not! You will have a blast in this ship . There is so much to do- LrgPizza made a nice list. My kids did slides, ping pong, game shows, demonstrations. Board and card games, trivia...they are all teens now and bonuses for the kids club but they used to like that as well .

If I fretted over 1/2 of the stuff that I've read on these boards I would never cruise.

Go out and enjoy!!!!

I do not care where we get a chair as long as it is in the sun , I've never had a problem getting chairs at anytime of the day. I like to read in the sun while my companion likes to swim, so I am usually using beds. If you don't have to be right next to the pool you will find chairs
