paul929207 Posted March 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Yes, you can get an upsell if booked thru an agency. I believe any offer would come thru your TA
Astro Flyer Posted March 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2016 (edited) A couple of days ago my TA received an upsell offer by email which she sent to me but we didn't want to pay 30% more for a port intensive 7 day cruise. Pam in CA Posted March 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2016 (edited) Yes, any upsell offer goes through your TA. I received one a couple of weeks ago, which I rejected. My TA emailed me a copy of the offer from Princess and then called me. Edited March 25, 2016 by Pam in CA
RetiredNTraveling Posted March 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Our latest Up-Sell came by email from our TA quickly followed by a call. We jumped at it as it was a 15 day Hawaii, with lots of sea days. Just Mike

Rare Cruise Raider Posted March 27, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2016 I received a call directly from Princess even though I booked through a TA. It was early in the morning the day before the cruise. I was offered an upgrade for no charge and the guy was calling to see if I wanted it. Even though it was only an inside to an obstructed oceanview, it was really a nice upgrade as our room had virtually no obstruction. Anyhow, everyone states the call or email goes through your TA and I just wanted to state that mine was a call directly through the cruiseline, even though I booked through a TA. The caller ID showed Palmdale, of note. It was very early in the morning ... I started worked at 7 AM and it was before that. Luckily, I answered the phone -- 5 minutes earlier, I would have been driving and let it go to voicemail. I didn't get the impression that the guy leaving the offer would have left a voicemail. It was all very last minute. PS -- I always have my reservation listed for a meta upgrade only.
dandylion Posted March 28, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2016 I have not cruised Princess in several years and have one booked in September. How do you "list" your reservation for an upgrade/upsell?
Rare Cruise Raider Posted March 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2016 I have not cruised Princess in several years and have one booked in September. How do you "list" your reservation for an upgrade/upsell? There is nothing to list that states you will accept an upsell but for an upgrade, you can tell them that you will accept any upgrade or a meta upgrade only when you first book. I think you can even book it this way online through Princess, but cannot remember for sure. If you state you will take a meta upgrade only, it means that they can only upgrade you to the next major category or better ... inside to oceanview or better, oceanview to balcony or better, balcony to mini suite or better, etc. From my experience, it doesn't happen often. Or just a number with the word Palmdale? Because now that you mention it, we did receive a call or two from the Palmdale area a few weeks ago. Sure learn lots on this board. Thanks!:) Princess discovered that enough passengers are willing to pay a reasonable amount for an upsell & since then there seems to be fewer free upgrades. Rare azbirdmom Posted March 29, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 29, 2016 We took advantage of two of these offers last year but turned one down we received today. We have a mini suite on a 4 day coastal cruise in May and were offered an upsell to a full suite for $299 per person. As much as I love the suite life, had to say no to this one. WupperAV Posted March 29, 2016 #16 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Ya! We're only getting like $600 in free OBCs now. Don't need the upgrade anyway. Liek a balcony, don't need a suite as we don't spend enough time in a room on a cruise anyway. We even have an electric wheelchair .

LoveThisCruisingThing Posted April 12, 2016 #18 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Had an upsell call for my 2016 cruise (agent got it and called me). An 8 day cruise to Mexico. $150 to move from obstructed to balcony. Took it with no hesitation. First time I had to pay I've been lucky. 5/6 cruises with a free upgrade. hpeabody Posted April 12, 2016 #19 Share Posted April 12, 2016 I can attest that upgrade fairy does still exist. On my recent Sapphire cruise I was upgraded from Emerald deck obstructed ocean view mid-aft to Aloha balcony aft. I was never notified by anyone, it just happened. wintersno Posted April 12, 2016 #20 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Up sells used to be upgrades.long cruiser Upgrades will be back instead of up sells as soon as people stop to pay for up sells. Maybe cruises are to cheap and cruisers have too much disposable income .

caribill Posted April 13, 2016 #24 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Upgrades will be back instead of up sells as soon as people stop to pay for up sells. That may never happen. Mapu Posted April 13, 2016 #25 Share Posted April 13, 2016 That may never happen. Posts on several threads have people salivating waiting to be offered an upsell. We received an "upsell" offer on the Royal Princess for a Penthouse suite for $999 per person additional. Currently we are in a mini-suite with an extended angled balcony. I never responded to the offer. I think there are others out there that would respond similarly.
