Clarea Posted April 5, 2016 #56 Share Posted April 5, 2016 I appreciate your suggestion, we will look into that You're welcome. I've read mixed reviews on the app, so if you end up using it, please come back and let us know how it worked.
jsswish Posted April 5, 2016 #57 Share Posted April 5, 2016 You're welcome. I've read mixed reviews on the app, so if you end up using it, please come back and let us know how it worked. My wife and I have been using the app and paid the $8 charge to text. It's been great for that purpose and seeing our calendar and statement. The calling feature is hit or miss, but texts are delivered quickly and alert the recipient, very useful. For anyone wondering the text/call feature is only to communicate with others on board using the app, not for texting/calling home.
masim17 Posted April 5, 2016 #58 Share Posted April 5, 2016 Hey Bob, Is that texting plan just for texting between people on the ship or can you send and receive texts from those left at home? Thanks for your help.

Life is Good Cruising Posted April 6, 2016 #60 Share Posted April 6, 2016 Love the Royal IQ app to text and call others on board. Each person you want to communicate with on board ""only "" would pay $7.95 per sailing, cost is the same whether it's a 5,7,10 or 12 night sailing. Your phone will ""vibrate"" only when a text or call is received. The only negative thing with the Royal IQ communication plan is that you have to constantly check your phone for messages, unless you're holding the phone and feel it vibrating. Formula280SS Posted April 6, 2016 Author #61 Share Posted April 6, 2016 Just a not, not related to the texting, but if you have the Wifi "1 Device" package just remember that it is "1 Device at a time. When I am done with my tablet for news, email, etc., you go to logout.com and it says "logged off." My wife then picks up her iPhone, taps Safari (or Google or any similar) and up comes the Royal 'sign in. Just put your code in (only required once, it remembers your tablet and iphone after the 1st login) and she FACE TIMES with our son and grand kids 4YO and 2YO in Southern California. When she is done, she goes to logout.com and she is off and I can use my tablet again. Very handy.
cruisenuts4life Posted April 6, 2016 #62 Share Posted April 6, 2016 I noticed that when you check in you have to give a time frame,if slot fills in do they go to next time slot ? I've have never done this before, first time on Anthem this summer.

timfan27 Posted April 7, 2016 #66 Share Posted April 7, 2016 I am going on this ship with my family and my sister's family over the summer. As we read information, we have a few questions. One is - is there a cigar bar on this ship? If not, where can cigars be smoked? Also - we all love the Ben & Jerry's ice cream parlor's on the other ships. Is there a Ben and Jerry's on the Anthem? If not, is there an ice cream parlor aside from the free frozen yogurt machines? Thanks for the help
robtulipe Posted April 7, 2016 #67 Share Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) I noticed that when you check in you have to give a time frame,if slot fills in do they go to next time slot ? I've have never done this before, first time on Anthem this summer. Yes, as the check in reservation times fill up they become unavailable then one must then select a different time period. I also noticed that an earlier time period was available to us as D+ than was not available to our friends who weren't so IMO some time is reserved for those with priority boarding status like those in suites or with higher C&A status. We hadn't taken that period we saw so it should have been available if not for the above. Even if you have selected a time slot it can be changed by simply checking availability for your cruise using your online check in feature as we found an earlier time did show up for us a few weeks prior to our last Anthem cruise which was booked only 4 weeks prior. We were dropped by our hotel shuttle for that last cruise about a 1/2 hour before our check in appointment as Monday morning traffic was lighter than I expected and were checked in immediately. Also I've read here on CC of others showing up early than their appointment and being check in right away. Smoking was allowed on the Port side Pool Deck 14 just aft of the Solarium and the Starboard side Promenade Deck 5 in the covered area between stern area lifeboats 13 and 15 which shows as an open area on the deckplan. Also smoking is allowed in designated area of the casino . Hard ice cream, typically 3 flavors, was also available complimentary at supper time in Marketplace Windjammer. Also it was available complimentary in the served dining rooms. robtulipe Posted April 7, 2016 #69 Share Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) Below is a shot of the SB Promenade Deck 5 covered smoking area. There is a similar covered area on the rear section of the Port Promenade Deck but that is an outdoor eating area for Jamie's Italian restaurant. DaniDanielle Posted April 9, 2016 #73 Share Posted April 9, 2016 RoyalQ app was great for 9 days and then was hit or miss. Sometimes saying we were not connected or we had to register for it. Guest Services helped out but the last three days were on and off. Still was great to find where our group was and checking our calendar. Have to agree Silk was a pleasant surprise, we also changed a reservation to eat there again. We Will Rock You,in our opinion, was one of the best shows we have seen on a ship. We ranged in age from 7 to 70 and all loved it.
