do you remember what deck you disembark on? we always do self assist and I like being close to that deck so we do not have to carry luggage up or down 5 flights of stairs

Do you remember what deck?

Mitsugirly, thanks you so much for this review! Last week we were on MSC Seaside and the port changed at the last minute from Freeport to Grand Turk. From our hotel room in Miami, I reread your review and choose Governors Beach for the afternoon.

You were right; it was beautiful! Your pictures of the shipwreck meant that I could see the beach from our balcony. We walked to the beach (about 1.5 miles) and spent 3 hours there. One note for folks looking for the turn from the main road...the Governors Beach sign is missing. It's just the two poles now.

Thanks again for all the detail you put into your reviews!

So glad you had a wonderful day at Governors Beach. It's a real beautiful and peaceful place for sure. The hurricane must have decided to take the sign. I'm glad you were still able to find it.

Thanks for your comments and glad I was able to give you some help. :)

Hi Kim (and others). I have taken my last 3 cruises with NCL, 1 on Disney and 1 on RC. There is a Carnival Breeze cruise I'm interested in but I have been hesitant to try Carnival based on reputation and reviews I have read. Well, to be fair the reviews are mixed like any other cruise line. I don't want to stereotype so please help....

My concerns: We like to have fun but don't like crazy, rowdy, kid inappropriate pool decks. On NCL the first sea day the DJ can be loud but we just hang out in the shade by the waterslides usually. I heard it can be like that on Carnival but mostly the shorter spring break type cruises. Can you confirm how it was on your cruises?

We like a good buffet, especially good Indian food. Hubby is craving it after a couple days :) Looks like the Breeze has Tandor, is it any good?

Are there late night snacks like NCL has from 9:30-11:30 on the buffet or an O'Sheehans type place?

Do they have shows OK for kids and pre-teens?

Thanks so much to anyone who can help!

I'm just going to start off by saying everyone is different. Different expectations, different taste, different tolerance levels, different personalities. A lot of people like to say that Carnival is the Walmart of cruise lines. (Just so you know, I'd like to know where my "Walmart pricing" comes in at because I can tell you that my Carnival cruises have cost more than my NCL cruises...just saying). Many that cruise other cruise lines put them down and say they are the drinking, rowdy, party ships. I just want to say that had I listened to everyone that replied those things to me back when I was considering Carnival, I would have never got to experience them. I like to experience things on my own, while taking advice into consideration, and determine if it's a good fit for me and my family in the future. If I don't like them, I won't return. If I do, I'm definitely coming back!

I tried Carnival back in 2013, after cruising only with NCL every time for years, and as you can see in my signature line...I obviously liked them and had a good time because since that first cruise, I have cruised 6 times with them over the last 4 years. WITH a lot of them being on SPRING BREAK! I have never experienced the drunken rowdy bunch that's partying and completely out of control on ANY ship I have been on, whether it's Carnival or NCL. We also cruise EVERY year on Spring Break too.

I find that they are more similar than not to other cruise lines. To me, things seem to run about the same. Some of the same venues, same food, same games, same everything. You will find things you like and things you don't. If you are one that every little thing that is not done a certain way upsets you, maybe change is not good. If you just roll with the punches and everything is a great experience, change is good. I like change. I like cruising. I'm going to enjoy any and every cruise I go on no matter who I'm cruising with. You'll have your favorites about every line though.

The food offered after hours is a little different than NCL's OSheehans. I don't think any others top that. But they have a pizza place open and also a sandwich place open that's made to order. (It gets even worse with RC, which I just cruised, that has a pizza place with also some cold sandwiches and fruit that is premade to pick from).

The Breeze is my favorite ship on Carnival. I just loved it. They have the Pig & Anchor place with BBQ on sea days, they have hot dog stands up on the sports deck and don't forget the Dr Seuss breakfast (good and quite the experience for both young and old). A lot of different things that NCL doesn't have. They are just 2 different lines with positive things for each that the other don't have. They have an awesome water park that is great for cooling off.

You can get advice from others that have cruised both NCL and Carnival and you will always get a mixture of experiences and feelings. My personal advice is look to see what all it offers, look at pictures, look at the price (if that's a factor) and give it a try and see for yourself.

Oh...and every cruise line will have shows and things geared toward kids no matter what line you are on.

Thanks that helps! We are roll with punches kind of folks, not hard to please. And I read all your reviews by the way love them! We also just picked up the Olympus TG-5 camera for our last cruise, our underwater pics were great.

We can always find something to eat, never do speciality dining, buffet and regular dining rooms are fine for us. And your right about the cost, this Breeze cruise we’re looking at is $2,500 for the 3 of us for ocean view room, not cheap! We get cheap cruises on NCL due to casinos at sea so this price is hard to swallow. But we want the eastern Carib itinerary they offer so therefore will probably be trying Carnival. We just bought a few PayPal discount gift cards so we started to stock up.

Our tolerance level for loud obnoxious people is not high, but if this occurs we just move to another area. I just didn’t want it to be the norm on the cruise.

We like an active ship as far as the activities like games, contests, Q&As, etc... we just avoid those not kid appropriate like the Newlywed game. This one is the same on any cruise. The waterworks area looks pretty cool here we would like this.

Question, are the pools chlorine or salt water?

Thanks!
