Wow, that is scary and you are so brave.

Aww thanks.

Hello,

I love reading all your ship and port adventure reviews! Especially this one since we cruised on the Breeze last summer. It was our first time on a Carnival ship. We usually cruise only on Disney, which is my favorite. So not as often as I'd like unfortunately. I can relate to being hungry on the Breeze too! First time I've lost weight on a cruise. We have never cruised with Norwegian, but would love to try it. Lol! I'd love to know which ships are your favorite and how does it compare to the Breeze?

Thanks,

Nichole

All ships are my favorite. :D But seriously, just ranking the ship itself and not the service or food...I loved the Breeze and it's one of my favorites now. The Epic has been a favorite since I first cruised her in 2010. The Getaway and Breakaway are great ships and are loaded, just like the Breeze, with things to do. As for the smaller ships, I loved the Spirit (she's so different than the rest in the fleet and has an Asian decor) and we loved the Sun as one of the very small ships. :)

I'm so excited you did this review! I will be on the Breeze in 10 days celebrating my college graduation and this just makes me even more excited :)

Well congrats on the graduation. I hope you have a wonderful cruise! :)

If you could only see how big I have made my screen words. LOL (You know the trick by holding down the control button and scroll you mouse until the words are ginormous? Yep, that's my screen right now. But I have been taking frequent naps due to the extreme headaches from the vision. I went back to work today...the hubby chauffeured me around all day. It was interesting.

:D

Kim, no I did not know the trick until I read this, and I have been using computers for years. I am senior (old as dirt) and this is a biggie for me. Had cataracts done last year and it didn't help much. So, I got to enjoy a Mitsugirly review and learn something really important to me. Thanks for doing these reviews for others to enjoy.

Great review and pictures. I can't wait to finish reading the rest. I was supposed to sail on the Breeze May 1st to 5th, but I had to rescheduled for November. So I will be on the Glory instead. I will definitely sail on the Breeze in the future.

Kim, I know you don't normally do excursions but I think you would LOVE reef snorkeling in Bonaire with Woodwind. It is incredibly beautiful. The Woodwind folks are top notch professionals. Don't know about other lines but Carnival goes there. We loved it!

I got soo far behind. I was trying to read daily but you were posting twice as fast. LOL

Finally got caught up.

My friends that sailed the Breeze in Feb...their #1 complaint was lack of food 24 hours a day. They were annoyed the buffets closed early all the time and they were left with burgers or pizza most days.

They also said they could never get into any of the shows. They said they would arrive and they would be told there was no room. I am not sure if they arrived late or not, but they were upset about that.

Loved the review as always.

We are cruising Disney in Oct and hitting Tortola and St. Thomas, but firsts for me, so I am excited.

You should've checked out the Everglades. My Mom and I did it before a Princess cruise in 2014 and it was so much fun. Loved going on the water with the air boats and seeing the gators come up so close.

I would love to go back...and my Mom loved it so much a few months later when her and Dad went down they drove there and did the tour again.

Thanks for the fabulous review and I'll be watching for the next one.

Hope your eye continues to improve.

I can't believe it's May 9th, and I just found this review you did back in April. I'm always finding your reviews, and for some reason, I missed this. However, I'm so glad that I found it. Your reviews are the best, between you, Gambee, and GaPearl, I can lose myself in your reviews (and I can't forget Jamman's reviews either). Okay, enough chit-chat, and it's back to the review. Thanks for doing the review, I know how time consuming it can be to write one!

GUYS BURGERS!!!

All of the different ways to get your burger. I have to say I tried several of them and they were all yummy. Last time, on the Dream, I didn't realize you could actually ask for one of these. I thought they were all just a cheeseburger and you just went over to the topping bar and put what you wanted on it.

I always manage to find Ohio plates here

You mentioned that this was on the Dream...are you sure, as I was on the Dream and I didn't see this. I was a little bummed because I actually wanted to try a Guys Burger. Maybe they added this since I was last on the Dream in 2014!

Well unfortunately we had a lot of rain in Bermuda and I found out that I can't drink their water (or have their ice in my drink) as that made me have a short but extreme episode of gastro symptoms - once it was out of my body I was fine - but not a fun 20 minutes or so. I've been through this before multiple times throughout my life. I'm just very sensitive to water and whatever chemicals is put into it - especially fluoride.

We took a cab around the island as our excursions were all cancelled due to weather. We went to a gorgeous beach. Remember that Portuguese Man O' War you saw in the water? Well, we saw about 100 of them beached! Even dead, they can still sting you for up to 3 days so I pointed them out to my husband and told him not to touch. They were everywhere, though. Probably, it was just as well we didn't get in the water.

We found out that flying kites is a major hobby in Bermuda and people make their own kites with super long tails. Believe it or not this is a hobby for grown men! They use white tissue for an ordinary kite they can crash, but if they use colored tissue, it is a kite they want to keep. We got to meet several men who had built and were flying some of these kites.

The Breakaway's casino was a major STINKER with all the cigarette smoke. NCL is losing out majorly from people like me - the smoke was so bad, I didn't play anything like at my normal rate and I had to Febreeze my clothes and take a shower and even then, I had to put my clothes on the balcony to fumigate them. After 2 tries, I gave up on the casino completely - just waaaaaay too stinky to cope with. On a positive note, the new menu for suite guests includes a butter roasted lobster tail - delish! I had lobster every single day and it was really good! The negative? They didn't recognize my husband's B-day at Cagney's. It was in the reservation. What a stupid mistake. Last year on Getaway he got 3 great cakes throughout the week. This year he got a slice of chocolate cake from the butler. That was all. Very disappointed. Sigh... And the internet was down or so slow it was unusable. UGH!

Sorry about what you are dealing with in regards to you eye surgery. I hope things improve for you.

I do hope you are able to keep your November Breeze cruise. She's amazing. Have a good time!

I would really like to get to Bonaire. I have heard it is beautiful. My goal is to make it to the "ABC" islands. :p

Glad you were able to get caught up. :D

Yea the food and the timing was the worse I think I have ever experienced on a ship before. :(

Our November cruise on the Epic will be going to Tortola. It will be our first time there and I'm also excited. :D What do you have planned for there?

I did check into the Everglades tour after our Breeze cruise, but after a lot of investigation, most people were saying that it was not worth it and most people stated that it was nothing more than a boat ride and they didn't see any gators. Most stated "at least" they were able to see some after the ride was over and they would stop at some place where there was a "show" that had some. So, it just didn't sound like it was worth it.

Two weeks ago today was my surgery and still no improvement. I really did not expect this at all. They had originally said I would need 1 week off work and my vision would go back and forth over the next 1-2 months. But I never thought that it would still be completely blurry after 2 weeks. Sigh Especially now that I'm back in school again for the next semester. I get daily headaches from the "weird" vision I now have: good in one eye and bad in the other. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm so very sorry. I typed the wrong ship when I said that. I meant the Pride. :o Someone had corrected me shortly after I typed that but it was too late for me to correct it.

Aww, so sorry to hear that you had a lot of rain in Bermuda.

You said you went to a beautiful beach. What beach was it?

The kites sound amazing. I would have loved to have seen that. It sounds like you had a great time getting to know the locals. That's amazing.

First we stopped at Horseshoe Bay Beach and then we stopped at Atwood Cove Park and Beach - that's the one I was talking about - which is where we saw the men flying the kites with the giant tails up on the cliffs over the beach. Here's a story about kite flying there:

http://www.royalgazette.com/article/20140423/COMMENT03/140429924

Atwood Cove is more of a locals beach and very uncrowded - really gorgeous except for all the Portuguese Man O'War's on the beach that day! LOL! But they were also on Horseshoe Bay Beach as well.

We liked Bermuda a lot. It was nice to visit places without being hounded by locals to buy stuff. Our taxi driver had lived there almost all of his life and knew practically everyone on the island. That made it fun. We'd definitely go back someday.

Wow Kim, so sorry that your vision has yet to improve 2 weeks out of surgery. I can attest as well to headaches from vision issues, and I can't imagine how you're dealing with it vis a vis work and school. What does the dr. have to say about the lack of improvement at this point?

Here's to hoping that once it starts to improve, it will go much quicker than anticipated. Sucks when you have things that require you to really be able to read and work and you're sidelined.

Kim can you tell me what the water temperature was like when you were at the different beach resorts. Was it really cold, and you had to warm up to it, or was it warm water like Florida? I'm sure your daughter probably didn't mind if it was cold or not, as long as she could get in and swim, right?

Thanks for your review, as always I really enjoyed it!

We did Holiday Park which his home of the Gator Boys. It was amazing. Certainly not just a boat ride. We saw several gators too. I think 5 or 6? They had names for them and they would come right up to the boat. It was super cool. It's in my Caribbean Princess review at the bottom. We did it before the cruise so it should be started in the first couple of pages.

Nice. Thanks for the info on Astwood Cove. It looks like from the map, it's over from Warwick and before Elbow Beach. I will have to check it out some time. :)

Yea, if you found the Man O'Wars at that beach, they were probably everywhere. They usually have the signs posted at the beaches to warm you about them and I believe they said they are more abundant during certain times of the year. Yikes!

Yea, one of the main reasons I wanted to get the surgery was all the headaches I get from my vision to begin with. I do not go back to the doctor for my next visit until June 8th. I just know that I was not expecting this vision at this time. They said 1 week of being off of work due to the blurred vision, but I'm over 2 weeks and still blurry and I wouldn't trust myself to drive, like they said I could after 1 week. My husband and my sons girlfriend has been driving me everywhere. I'm such an independent woman and I seriously hate this. :(
