;) A few years now ... not long ago in our "timeframe" :D

The absence of happy faces among the crew ... now, that's a serious one. We shall see - that's one of the most valuable asset with NCL all these years.

We are more concerned with what NCL has become lately, under new top management ... about to head out to vote in today's primary (in New York) ... sailing NCL next month since we got a no-frills bargain deal, voting with the wallet.

... all cruiselines had made changes, raise prices, etc. etc. - yada yada (so what) - it's about choices, among other things that matter to us.

Just got back from an NCL cruise and notice there are lots of no more: No more nightly chocolate mint on your pillows, no more lobster night, no more chocolate extravaganza.
These things have been gone for years and weren't all these cutback during Mr. Sheehan's reign. Edited by NLH Arizona

The only NCL cruise I ever took where there weren't happy faces from the crew was the very first one, '09-2010. It was so miserable I'm lucky I ever went back. I've definitely not seen anything but smiles more recently. I hope that stays the same on my cruise next month.

We were on the Escape & all of the crew had happy faces! Even while the passengers were being pains in the a@@, the crew kept smiling. I don't understand the attitude of some of the guests. I always had a great time with the crew & they were always very helpful. In their position, I would had told some where to get off in short order. Love the NCL crew!
I've never been on an NCL cruise where the crew wasn't smiling and happy and in all the reviews I've been reading, there are very, very few that say the crew members weren't happy....sometimes I wonder what cruise line these folks are really on or maybe it is you get back what you give.

I was on the Jewel in Dec in a suite and feel I wasted my money. The service was perfunctory at best. Service was slow in all the restaurants we tried and the food was good, not great.

Perhaps it's perspective but service was VERY good and the food was also very good. We ate at Cagney's, La Cucina, The Japanese Tepenaki restaurant and Tsars. There were one or two moments where the service was not lightning fast but what's your hurry:)

Again - we were on the Jewel 3 days ago.

The chocolates were nothing more than colored was- into garbage. I've alway's said if your going to eat calories make them good ones. By the way we had them on our January cruise.

The shrimp in Cagney's were bigger than the lobster on buffet and not worth lining up for, plus overcooked.

There is enough chocolate on board somewhere that we felt the chocolate buffet was not needed anyway.

So these were NO losses to us.

Now the Latitudes box of chocolate 4 pc which use to be six pcs. are good.

They do serve lobster, except now it's an upcharge $19.99 option in the main dining room. You will also see it on the Le Bistro and Cagney's menus.

Two years ago when we were on Getaway, there was lobster in the seafood buffet, but no more.

Of course, I think it is still free in the Haven restaurant.

Been going that way for a few years now. NCL is doing anything and everything it can to save nickels and dimes. FDR has a huge yearly compensation package and someone has to pay for it.

2016 is the first year we have decided not to cruise (have been doing 2-3/yr) Have seen the prices rise dramatically due to the "free perks" We have always booked with CAS and have found their offerings drop from "free' balcony room to an inside inside.

I do find the smaller box of Godiva to be rather insulting. How much more to buy them in bulk and go back to the 8 piece?

Just back from land vacation in Aruba and planning to return again later this year. Even wan at the casino!!!

Sorry, no lobster in the MDR at no charge, Mr. Sheehan took that away.

DH and I started cruising with NCL in 2008, and we have never seen free lobster anywhere on any of our NCL cruises. We never saw it offered in the MDR, or at any buffet in the Lido. We also were on the Sprit for our first cruise and they had just stopped offering the complimentary glass of champagne upon boarding, so I would say 2008 was around the time some of the "free" stuff started being taken away. The exception of actually having lobster at all on NCL was a heavenly lobster bisque at one of the Chef's Table meals. And for anyone who is a foodie, the Chef's Table meal put on once per 7 night cruise is EXQUISITE. It usually has a pricey upcharge of $60+ per person but let me tell you, every one we have attended was out of this world amazing "fancy" food, worthy of any gourmet restaurant. We've taken a couple of cruises with Holland America and we enjoy the more laid back atmosphere, but one thing we truly miss is that Chef's Table experience on Norwegian.
