Smoking on oasis class

Recommended Posts

Yes, the casino has clearly marked smoking and non-smoking sections. Other than that, smoking is allowed in designated places outdoors on the port side of the Oasis class ships. Smoking is not allowed in Central Park or the Boardwalk.

Unfortunately, yes. They still permit smoking on one side of the casino- except formal nights.

Not true about formal nights. The casino has two sides: one smoking, one non-smoking. That doesn't change throughout the cruise.

My bad. It's been a few years since I've been on an Oasis class vessel. It is too bad they allow smoking in the casino. Their ventilation system falls a bit short of keep the stank out of the non-smoking side.

Why do you care if people gamble?

Royal care if people gamble. Hence all the sea days. It's their biggest source of revenue.

Myself....... the casino is my holiday treat. I take money to lose ...... and i enjoy having that luxury.

I don't go to casinos outside in the "real world".

It's also great not to have to walk miles to a smoking area during your hours of fun x

From an economic standpoint, gambling money could be better spent in the local economies the ships visit. But, it doesn't effect me if someone gambles responsibly, so have fun.

Well if that's your reasoning lets close all the bars, shops, and restaurants on board so we can go spend more money on cheap souvenirs on shore.

You're right, it doesn't affect you and you shouldn't care how others spend their money. Go clean the cat litter.

It may be a cheap souvenir to you, but it puts basic necessities on the table for local residents. Regarding the economic argument against gambling, I suggest you read a basic introduction to economics.

We are on Oasis now with all the cheap trinkets we bought today in Jamaica. Our neighbor is cleaning the cat litter.

That's fine, you choose to spend your money on local souvenirs. We spend our money on excursions and restaurants that employ local residents with jobs.

Clearly, gambling can have both positive and negative affects on an economy. I understand that. Yeah, their are people who are addicted to gambling that ruin their lives. Well their lack of self control turns into tax dollars for my city that helps pay for roads and education. So gamble away. I think you are over stating the impacts of Casinos. And if you are nit picking about Casino's then I'm sure you want to ban cigs and alcohol.

You are merely arguing how people should spend their money.

Should the government outlaw expensive vehicles so people might spend the money they saved at local shops/businesses?

Should Royal Caribbean stop selling booze so people might spend more money on the islands?

You are missing the point. Refer to a basic economic textbook to see the economic argument against gambling specifically. HINT. Society would be better off, if instead of taxing nonproductive gambling to build roads, the taxes came from income tax on productive enterprises.

It does make me wonder how much money Royal would lose if they banned smoking in the casino. Would it really be that much? I would think people who are going to gamble are going to gamble.

Unless the thinking is if you can get a smoker in the casino just to smoke then maybe you get them to gamble a little during the cruise. On the other hand would that amount be made up by those who would go to the casino if if we're smoke free? My wife and I were talking about this on our recent Allure cruise. We would probably have spent time in the casino if it were smoke free but we avoid it entirely because of the smoke.

It was bad enough waiting for the doors to the dinning room, which were directly across from the casino, to open every night that we couldn't imagine being in there for an extended period of time.

Whoop Tee Doo..... so says you.

Bottomline one can smoke in the casino whether they are gambling or not. Smoking is allowed in the casino and various other areas as well.
