djhsolara Posted April 30, 2016 #51 Share Posted April 30, 2016 I never thought of the "perk" issues that this would cause. Lots of people looking for entitlement. It would be a logistical nightmare.
ferfoodle Posted April 30, 2016 #52 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Where they belong.... Just joking. As all of this is just speculation, what would entice me would a cruise where they did special things (for everyone on the cruise) as a loyalty type thing. Kind of like a bloggers cruise, but giving and showing things that are not normally done or offered. More interaction with the crew, opportunities to do things not normally offered, insights to unusual things. This is/was the concept of the Journeys cruise. These cruises had more meet the crew with Q&A, extra activities including classes and lectures, local port entertainment - including some brought on board to entertain, etc. Premier Casino cruises also give a lot "extra" to loyal cruising gamblers. Agree on both counts. Not as big gambler here, but I have seen some of the marketing material they send out to try and entice people to cruise again and it is top notch. Agree also on the Journey cruises but as of yet, they do not fit calendar wise for us. Hopefully in the future.
MCFTJCH2V Posted April 30, 2016 #54 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Before I get started, I know I will get flamed like a college bound fire before the big game. But I am going to ask the questions just to see what interest is out there. We just got of the Sunshine's last 8 day cruise. I know all cruises include a lot of newbies, but as I had to go around a bunch of wandering red and blue cruisers on the Lido Deck and Staircases. I was wondering: Would there be an interest for Carnival to create a cruise just for Diamond, Platinum and Gold Cruisers? This cruise would have special activities and beverage (as well as other items) prices. No newbies (red or blues) would be allowed. Just experienced Carnival cruisers. This is just an interesting thought and I am not looking to create some big issue. But, I would be interested in being on a cruise where the passengers are as experience with Carnival as myself. Actually half the fun of cruising is to see cruising in the eyes of the newbies. Usually they are right within your party. Other times you just have start up conversations over nothing more than cruise experience. But I laugh when I think of my second cruise, going to the past guest party. I was thinking, how many others go on more than 1 cruise? Befell I found out that there was one couple on their ninth cruise. I was like OMG. But we were walking on our ninth cruise within 5 years and that's 25 years ago.

We were on the Liberty repo Journeys cruise in March and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also were on the Pride repo in March 2015 which included a lot of extra activities (I think they were "sampling" the Journey concept with that cruise"). Right now, there aren't many new Journey cruises out there aside from the Hawaii cruises.
Drazil65 Posted April 30, 2016 #56 Share Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) I see more of a special "newbie" cruise for first timers that have been maybe thinking about cruising or cruising with Carnival but have not pulled the trigger. Maybe they get a "try me" special cruise that Carnival has once or twice a year, they could probably get the newbies hooked by making the offer in conjunction with maybe the Carnival MC sign up (people love offers that come with credit cards, special rate on that cruise, points etc.). I think Carnival could do a huge PR campaign on something like that and clean up. All customer service and offerings on that cruise based on the first time cruiser....;) Edited April 30, 2016 by Drazil65

Rosy1013 Posted April 30, 2016 #58 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Who is judging?? Sorry, my bad. I wasn't posting in response to your post. I was just agreeing with the ppl who pointed out that a seasoned cruiser could be new to the Carnival line and have a blue card, but not the inexperience believed to be associated with it. Cruise-Crazy Posted April 30, 2016 #61 Share Posted April 30, 2016 True - but if EVERYONE on the cruise was Platinum/Diamond, then NONE of them would be special. Try getting priority boarding on that tender. Imagine everyone using the priority line at Guest Services. Forget staggered embarkation - EVERYONE gets on early. "What's that, madam? You're Platinum? Back of the line, please..." LOL. Very true.
Rare orville99 Posted April 30, 2016 #62 Share Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) They are there for you to see, so is it you can't find them or I guess you do not find them enticing, which is fine. I got more on my second RCL cruise than a Diamond gets on Carnival, so I guess there is nothing there that says "be loyal to us" - at least to me. Even Disney's loyalty program is better than Carnival's, and Disney's program is a joke. We'll be on Victory in a week, and will probably book two more (Valor and Magic) while on board, but only because we like the ships an the itineraries. I still don't see any reason to chase status on Carnival. Edited April 30, 2016 by orville99
poz222 Posted April 30, 2016 #63 Share Posted April 30, 2016 I think most "chase the deal" not necessarily the "loyalty" since the perks are a joke compared with other cruise lines. The Newbies and couple time cruisers are the ones who spend the $$$ Not the regulars!

At the time, Carnival only offered VIP boarding to VIP members and couldn't even do that right. The line for VIP members started AFTER security. Our last cruise with them (we're Platinum on Disney), we got a discontinued photo album and the same beach bag they give to everyone.
queeniemi Posted April 30, 2016 #67 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Upon reading these conversations, I find it strange that in this day in time, someone is still worrying about the "color" of something. People on a cruise are your fellow cruisers, no matter what color---their cards are. Enjoy your cruise and smile as they enjoy thelrs
MMastell Posted April 30, 2016 #68 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Now I've seen it all. First it was reverse snobbery. That's when people in lower category cabins are angry that suite passengers get priority boarding, and now, an espresso/coffee machine. Now it's "Cardism" (Card Racism). Where you judge someone based on the color of their card. What's next? The formation of the CCC (Card Clux Clan) where blue and red card holders have a separate dining room and public bathroom and separate iced tea/lemonade and ice cream machines. :) They may go as far as burning Funship Freddie dolls on people's balconies. ;) This is said in jest with a strong ring of truth to it. Sweet Dutch Girl Posted April 30, 2016 #69 Share Posted April 30, 2016 (edited) Sine I'm a firm believer that loyalty should be awarded based on money spent, not how many cruise days I would think Carnival would loose money based on a gold, platinum, diamond only cruise. I know of lots of loyalty customers who spend basically nothing on a cruise...they often book last minute, are happy campers with cheap insides, don't spend much on dinner venues, spas, excursions (they often stay on board at ports), don't drink much and are happy just getting away for a few days...probably spending less than they do at home. Of course I am basing my assessment on "people I know" but I think they are a pretty good cross section of many "loyalty" consumers. I would think, in order for Carnival to make a profit, they would be thinking twice about limiting cruises to "long time cruisers" and if a non red or blue cruise was ever offered it would probably be a lot more expensive upfront. Just my 2 cents. Edited April 30, 2016 by Sweet Dutch Girl

loubetti Posted April 30, 2016 #71 Share Posted April 30, 2016 When I finally sail for the first time on Carnival, I guess I will be "blue", is that it? 44 cruises so far, and I am Elite on Celebrity, and Platinum on Cunard. Or something like that. I could not care less about status. Do you really think I care about what the OP has to say? No..... OP, you spend $8000 on a 6-night TA in a middle- grade outside cabin on Cunard, then come talk to me! Some folks need to cruise other lines!

Second, I have status on 3 other cruise lines. But I like Carnival the most and that is why I proposed a loyalty cruise on the site. Finally, for someone that I quote "I could care less about status", your message and signature mentions your status 6 different times. You most really, really really care about your status. So, I guess I just proved that you are a hypocrite. Edited May 1, 2016 by CruiseHealing
