Rare Von & John Posted June 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2016 (edited) Hi. We'll be sailing on the Connie – March 2017. Can anyone provide pre & post cruise hotel recommendations for Singapore? Thanks in Advance! Edited June 18, 2016 by Von & John
Rare cruisestitch Posted June 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2016 Head to the Destinations boards, this is the board for questions about Celebrity Cruises. You might also check out your Roll Call, others are probably investigating this question as well.
nps001 Posted June 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2016 It really depends on what you plan to do. Both pre and post we decided to stay at the Marina Bay Sands but the prices were extremely high. Instead we chose the Fairmont (across from Raffles) and we were very pleased.
Sandtrap328 Posted June 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2016 You will never go wrong at the Marriott. I stayed post cruise and it was great.
TeaBag Posted June 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2016 You will never go wrong at the Marriott. I stayed post cruise and it was great. I agree. We stayed there in March and it was first class.
Ashland Posted June 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2016 Had many recommendations for the Royal Plaza on Scott's Road on these boards...so glad I took them....great hotel and especially the location...couldn't have been better !!
kobecat Posted June 19, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2016 Way too many excellent hotels in Singapore to recommend one, it really depends on your budget. Check out independent sites for reviews, after deciding which area you prefer.
DYKWIA Posted June 19, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2016 (edited) When compared with most of the world Singapore hotels are usually excellent although not the bargain they once were. Service is pretty much universally excellent but maybe not quite as good as Thailand and Hong Kong. We love the Shangri La at the top of Orchard Road - it's in its own tropical grounds - it consists of 4 buildings and is the Luxury Shangri La hotel groups flagship hotel. The Tower Wing is the cheapest with a selection of rooms and suites and club floors., then there's the Garden Wing with balcony's and a tropical city resort feel, there's also a residential wing. Finally, if budget allows, the Valley Wing is fabulous - in it's own building with separate entrance, butler service, free wine and champagne all day long - stunning classically furnished bedrooms - it's where visiting Heads of State usually stay and is very private and secure. Other hotels we've enjoyed are The Ritz Carlton and the Mandarin Oriental, both of which are closer to the Cruise Terminal. Even if budget stretches to it I wouldn't particularly recommend Raffles Hotel. Whilst it great to go and have a look the hotel does have the feel of a tourist attraction. DYKWIA Posted June 20, 2016 #13 Share Posted June 20, 2016 Worth noting that taxis are very cheap, plentiful and very reliable in Singapore - no funny business with haggling or "sorry the meter isn't working" the price you see is the price you pay. So don't worry about being a little further away from the port. If you're in Singapore for a couple of nights I'd recommend taking a taxi to Singapores Night Safari. Singapores zoo is one of the best in the world and at night (when a lot of animals are at their most active) they open a large part of it to visitors - features a good length walking trail and a very good train(actually a car) tour with guide. 4774Papa Posted June 20, 2016 #15 Share Posted June 20, 2016 What was your rate at the Pan Pacific? The Royal Plaza on Scotts had rates for about $150 per night.
ROCruiser Posted June 20, 2016 #16 Share Posted June 20, 2016 Might as well chime in. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt across from the Royal Plaza on Scott. Free night stay with their credit card. Great location, easy taxi ride from airport.

eden Posted June 21, 2016 #18 Share Posted June 21, 2016 We are looking for a hotel in Singapore for 2 nights. Have a fairly early morning flight(international) and am wondering if we should spend the second night close to the airport or how long it usually takes ( on a Friday morning) to get to the airport from the main hotel areas? Or is there another hotel area that has quick access to the airport?

There's a couple of expressways that connect via different parts of the city - The Marina Bay area might be the quickest (Mandarin Oriental, Conrad, Pan Pacific, Marina Mandarin, Ritz Carlton hotels) Edited June 21, 2016 by DYKWIA

Earl Rosebery Posted June 22, 2016 #21 Share Posted June 22, 2016 We stayed at the Fairmont. Across the street from Raffles and on a subway stop. Highly recommended.
Iluvcruising2 Posted June 23, 2016 #22 Share Posted June 23, 2016 Plenty of good hotels in Singapore (though not cheap), and all those mentioned so far are good. If you are looking at Royal Plaza on Scotts, Grand Hyatt, here is the what the surrounding area looks like. Fairmont Singapore is very popular because it is integrated with Raffles City, which is integrated with the City Hall MRT station. The Suntec City/Marina Square area also has many good hotels. These two videos give you a glimpse of those areas. Pan Pacific Hotel Marina Square Mall walk to Esplande MRT. Marina Square Mall, Marina Mandarin Hotel. This is a car camera video showing you Raffles City area to Marina Bay Cruise terminal and back to Orchard Road. Hope these help.
