sellwingri Posted July 3, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2016 If you're docking in Ft Lauderdale and wish to use luggage valet, after what time must your flight be scheduled to leave? I know that a flight leaving from Miami must be scheduled to leave after 2pm?

sellwingri Posted July 4, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted July 4, 2016 I believe it's actually 2:30pm. We were on Serenade in March and had a 1:55pm flight from Miami and were told that they'd make an exception for 5 minutes. So at least in March it was 2pm. Hackpba Posted July 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 4, 2016 We were just on the Allure of the seas and used the valet service and loved it! Our flight was late, like around 5pm so we had plenty of time. We had an uber take us the the sawgrass mall and spent the afternoon shopping and even saw a movie. Out luggage was taken the night before just like the others. We did not see them again until we got to the Indianapolis airport baggage claim. Highly recommend this service!
cincicruisers Posted July 4, 2016 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2016 Loved the luggage valet in Ft Lauderdale. Our flight was 12:45 and it was so nice to not have to drag luggage around. It's free if you are in suite. Worth the $20 if not in suite.

Absolutely as long as the carrier you're using participates...your flight time will have no troubles....and I believe it's flights up until approx 11:00pm that time may vary a little but most will have flights long before that late cruise end day. Ashland Posted July 11, 2016 #14 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Our experience has been that they ask Luggage Valet to depart right after self-assist. We used to be able to depart when we opted to when using Luggage Valet...but last time we had to be off at a certain designated time (just after self-assist)....not happy when having a later flight (1-1:30pm) and no reason to be off the ship that early and wait at the airport. I for one wish even when using LV you could opt for a certain departure timeframe of your choice.

I always wondered if they wanted the Luggage Valet people to wait until their bags were actually offloaded from the ship, in case the customs people want to look at the bags. sheezsmith Posted July 11, 2016 #16 Share Posted July 11, 2016 I just noticed the luggage valet service looks like it's now $25. Can anyone confirm, maybe just for the summer, or permanent?

I saw someone else mention that on the Florida Departures forum today, so it may be a fleetwide price increase.

Ashland Posted July 11, 2016 #19 Share Posted July 11, 2016 I always wondered if they wanted the Luggage Valet people to wait until their bags were actually offloaded from the ship, in case the customs people want to look at the bags. That happened to us...so letting those using luggage valet it would make more sense to let them choose a timeframe instead of being in the second group off this makes no sense. When it happened to us ... my SeaPass dinged and gave an alert  and a crew member that was right there escorted us down (we actually then avoided that long line and the whole process was so quick. I think we actually came out of there faster than if we hadn't been flagged...but I was a bit nervous but knew I didn't have anything in my bag to worry about bringing home) to a customs area where they asked me to acknowledge it was indeed my bag unlock it. It was just my really well bubble wrapped Rum Jumby from St Maarten ( I guess there are some liquors you can't bring back from the Caribbean and they couldn't tell if it was) this was all they were interested in seeing...luckily a very nice female agent and she actually then complimented me on how nicely my bag was packed.Told me to re-lock my bag and thanked me.....My bag was then sent on it's way via luggage valet to FLL and I didn't see it again until we arrived at our home airport of LAX. However while we were standing there we couldn't help notice actually how many cruiser's were there with different agents going through their bags. One very elderly couple in particular was being questioned intently and asked to produce receipts for their purchases...I felt very bad for them...they seemed so confused. shirazcruiser Posted July 11, 2016 #20 Share Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) I saw this form on a posting for Allure-April, 10, 2016. Hope this helps. I don't know how to make the photos larger - sorry. A better photo is at Royal Caribbean Blog dot com and under the top subsection "Cruise Compass", there is listing of various sailings to include the above sailing on page 45 of 74. 2kiddomommy Posted July 20, 2016 #21 Share Posted July 20, 2016 How do you get your boarding passes? Also, if your bag is not flagged, you would put the luggage out the night before and not see it again until your home airport?

The cruise line checks you in and gives you your boarding passes and airline luggage tags. They also charge you luggage fees if appropriate to your airline.
