Good evening everyone from the Caribbean Princess. We just got back onboard after a great private excursion I arranged for 16 other roll call members. I'll post a little later but I just wanted to share this real cool picture I took of the Gullfoss Waterfall. This is amazing to see in person.

Hope all are well.....:):):)

Bob

Looking forward to hearing all the details, as we'll be in Iceland this time next year on the Crown. And am just starting to look at excursions.

Good evening from the Caribbean Princess. We were supposed to sail from Reykjavik at 1800 (local time) but are still tied up at the docks at 2320 hours local time. We are unable to cast off our lines due to strong currents the Captain says would push us back into the docks or nearby breakwater if we cast off. Bad thing about that is all of the shops and the Casino remain closed because we are still in port. Oh well.

As stated earlier we had a great day in port doing a private Golden Circle that I had arranged for fellow roll call members. Everyone seemed to enjoy it so I think I did good:D.

Tomorrow (whenever we are able to leave port) is a sea day. Our first of five crossing the North Atlantic heading for Boston. We have our roll call cabin crawl tomorrow which should be a lot of fun. I am really looking forward to seeing a Window Suite. Other than the crawl, I’ll be hitting the gym. Tomorrow is also a formal night so I’ll once again be able to get dressed up in my tuxedo which I really like to do.

Little tired tonight so I’m going to turn in, I’ll do entertainment listings tomorrow.

Good Night All…..

Bob

Hopefully you'll cast off soon & not be stuck at the pier overnight.

That happen to us in Port Chalmers NZ when winds snapped a mooring line so the ship remained safety at the dock until it was safe to sail the next morning...safety over schedule. Hopefully the conditions will improve so the ship arrives on time in Boston...may you have fair seas ahead. :)

First thanks to Bob (Woobstr112G) for an excellent Golden Circle tour that he set up for us. The falls were magnificent as was the geyser and other points of interest. The church in Reykjavik with the huge organ was fantastic. I had never seen an organ with so many pipes (over 4000!) and they were playing it when we visited. Our tour guide Johann was also quite good and informative. I would recommend him to anyone. We had rain off and on while doing the Circle tour but thankfully the heaviest rain came while we were in the bus going around the mountain. It was cold (for us from the USA Southwest) and damp so bundled up was the order for the day. At the geyser there was a hotel, gift shop and restaurant where we had some excellent very hot soup to warm us up.

After another great dinner and having been up late the night before watching the Northern Lights, we retired shortly after dinner. We have TD for the first time in years because we have another couple traveling on this leg with us – another couple that was supposed to come also had to cancel due to medical issues. We have dinner in the Palm at a table for 4 and our waiter Eraslimo (sp) from Acapulco has been very attentive and friendly. All four of us have been to Acapulco many times so we had something in common plus he has been to our home state.

It is early morning in Reykjavik since we have not yet left port due to the wind. We set our clocks back one hour earlier this morning in anticipation of being at sea headed to Boston. Hopefully we will be able to leave port this morning. Since we have 5 sea days to arrive in Boston, hopefully the ship can make up the time lost at sea. Best part of it all is that we are having a very peaceful and quiet night!

Good morning Frank (local time). It is a little after 0600 local time and we are still docked in Reykjavik. It is raining right now (light and steady) and the seas don't seem any better than they were yesterday afternoon. No announcement from the Captain yet.....

It's time for good night here...I've been checking the bridgecam & ship tracking sites that show you're still safely docked in Reykjavik in wet conditions.

You're fortunate to have a roomy suite to ride out the weather delay because other interior spaces on the ship will probably be quite busy. Enjoy the suite life & the remainder of your adventure back home. :)

Abby;

Worst day on a cruise ship is better than the best day on land.....:D:):D

Bob

Well I'd debate you on that one. As I'm sitting up on the Gold Coast of Australia on my vacation with long stretches of white sand in each direction :). Enjoy, hope you get out of there soon.

It sounds like you're having a good time despite a few weather glitches. We thought Iceland was a fascinating place. The waterfall was truly spectacular. Thanks for posting the photo; it was nice to relive our visit there.

It looks like you may be in for some bumps on the way to Boston. There's a tropical system headed your way. Hang on and stay safe.

Hello Ann. The waterfalls were just as mesmerizing this year as they were last year. Thanks for that info regarding the tropical storm. As long as it isn't as bad as the seas were 3 or so days ago. That night was the worst bad seas day I have ever experienced in my 200+ days of cruising.....

DH and I just returned from Iceland a few days ago (land vacation this time; sadly no cruise), and it is absolutely one of the most spectacular places I've ever been. We happened to be there when Pacific Princess was docked in Reykjavik, which was fun to see. :)

Hope the weather starts to go your way! :)

Bob - Iceland was beautiful. So diverse. I love to go back and see it again sometime. Trip of a lifetime and you got to see it twice.

We were finally able to leave the dock at 11:15 AM this morning (UTC-1). It took 2 tugs to get the ship away from the pier and turned around to head out of the harbor. We are now at sea after an afternoon and evening at sea. Wind is 14 knots and sea conditions are up to 4 foot waves. The ship is moving at 21 knots right now to make up for the extra time spent in port.

Xcite, the band, is from Trinidad. I have not been able to find out how long they will be on the CB.

Good morning from the Caribbean Princess. It is 0653 local time. Today is our second day at sea (first full day at sea) as we head towards towards Boston. As you can see by the picture, the skies are all clouded up. There is a very slight drizzle as well. The seas at the moment are a little rough. Not too bad though and nothing like several days ago when I thought the ship was shaking itself apart.

Last night was our second formal night. I really enjoyed getting dressed up in my tux for the night. DW and I ate in the Palm dining room. The menu was the Princess dinner which featured Lobster and Chateaubriand. DW had the lobster while I had the Chateaubriand. Both meals were very good and the service was excellent.

I apologize that I didn't post the entertainment last night. When we got back to our cabin, I pretty much fell asleep after I got outa my tux. One note about the entertainment and other festivities listed in the patters. I will be scanning all of the patters and uploading them to my flickr page when we get back home.

As far as today goes, We have our roll call cabin crawl later on. I made a mistake earlier posting that it was yesterday. I kinda figured out my error when I went up to Skywalkers to meet up with everybody and nobody was there:D. I am going to skip breakfast in Sabatini's so I can get a workout in at the gym I have to wait till 0800 when the treadmills can be used.

Hope all are well.....:):):)
