Thanks again Jeff for another great review! I do agree with most of your "final thoughts and ramblings" regarding the ship.

Leaving tomorrow on Sunshine for the second time and am eager to see how the July 4 cruise compares with this one as the outdoor areas were WAY TOO CROWDED for me since everyone wanted to be in the sun and pools.

Hopefully, it's smooth sailing!

Thanks for following along once again. Enjoy your return to the Sunshine. Keep her in good shape for Ryan and I. :D

I just finished the last parts of your review and I really enjoyed it. We haven't been on a New England/Canada cruise yet, but would like to do it one day to see some new ports (have never been beyond CT) and to sail out of NYC. I always love the pictures you post of sailing out of NYC. Thank you for your finial thoughts on Sunshine. I would love to try her because I love what I see of her in reviews, including yours, but always hear about how crowded she feels...glad to hear that it actually feels no different than the other ships.

I really enjoy your reviews and have for a while now and I do actually feel that I'm also on the cruise. Looking forward to a little more on your upcoming cruise and I'm already looking forward to your Pride cruise review. Thank you for always taking the time to do these wonderful reviews and thank you to Patti as well for all the pictures.

Thanks so much! We can always count on you to be along for the ride. You need to book a cruise out of NYC. Simply awesome!! :)

Hi Jeff and Patti. Just have to say a huge THANK YOU for another fantastic review.

Your attention to detail is amazing. I am about to start a review of my cruise on the Vista and am truly finding it a daunting task.

I only got back this week so have only just finished reading your review.

Look forward to more of your reviews next year,

take care,

Mark. :)

Just back from my 4 day get away cruise with my son Ryan aboard the Carnival Sunshine to Saint John. We had a great time. As I mentioned earlier, I will not be doing a full review of this cruise, but I will share some photos after I get them uploaded.

So here’s the quick rundown on our 4 day cruise to Saint John.

We embarked the Carnival Sunshine on October 13th. The weather wasn’t bad at all today at 70 degrees and cloudy. Check in in the VIP Lounge was quick and easy, and at 11:15 Ryan and I were among the first on the ship. Who’s up for a Funship Special and a Guy’s Burger?

We were in Cabin 7208, which was right next door to the cabin Patti and I had in September. Panny and Suriat were our room stewards once again and were happy to see us!

Just wanted to show that this cabin did come with a mini fridge for anyone that was interested…..

We are sailing away from New York City…..

CS12281.JPG

We decided to just hang out at the Red Frog Rum Bar, instead of being at the rail taking pictures. Our CD Emma was getting the party started…..

I did get this picture as we passed Lady Liberty from my seat at the Red Frog Rum Bar…..

Our plan for this cruise was simple. Relax, gamble a little bit, go to the comedy shows, and hang out at the sports bar.

We had Anytime Dining but never made it to the Dining Room. Our dinners wound up being Guy’s, the Deli, and the Lido Marketplace. I did eat at JiJi’s one night, and again it was simply awesome!

Our Platinum gift turned out to be the infamous visors which will look pretty good on our Nieces children’s heads!

Our first sea day was very chilly and windy, so most people just stayed inside. Today was the blackjack tournament in the casino. Ryan and I both entered and we both advanced to the final table…..

And Ryan won!!! Way to go son!!!

As luck would have it, my Diamond invitation was for dinner with the Captain. Apparently, there weren’t too many Diamond members on this cruise. But because we hadn’t packed any suitable clothes for dining with the Captain on Cruise Elegant Night, we had to decline. I received this fruit basket instead…..

Our day in Saint John was enjoyable. Though the temperature was only in the low 40’s, we enjoyed walking around town, the City Marketplace, and finally ending at Rocky’s Sports Bar where we had a few beers and lunch…..

That’s all that I have for pictures.

The sea day back to New York was a lot nicer than the first sea day. The winds had died down and the temperature was a lot warmer. It was nice to be able to sit outside at the Red Frog Rum Bar again.

Would you believe that they ran out of Thirsty Frog Red? Yep, they did. Bummer!

This was the first time that we tried some of the hot items on the room service menu. We were not impressed. We tried the chicken tenders, chicken wings, and firecracker shrimp, and all were overcooked and dry. The pizza was undercooked, and the French fries arrived cold. Not good.

We did the self - debarkation, and as Diamond / Platinum members we were among the first off of the ship. We were home by 9 am.

We had a great father and son weekend!

WAY TO GO, Ryan! I might have to pack him in my bag as a lucky charm for our next tbd cruise! ;) We always got the fruit basket when we did B2B's. Can't figure it out...I can get all the fruit I want at the Lido buffet and don't even have to peel it myself! We usually give it to the room steward to take to crew quarters. A drink coupon or even a bottle of wine would be better, but that is JMO. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures and nice that you had a getaway with your son!

Hey Karry!! I posted a few days before the cruise that some inside cabins had opened up and were hoping that you and your DH would be able to jump on.

There's always the Magic next October! :D

Thanks for the heads up, and yes, I did look it up and it would be $3400 just for cruise fare for an inside, not including tips, insurance, air, and hotel pre cruise. And then what about our drinks and casino entertainment and excursions.... So it's not in the cards this time but I have been keeping my eyes open and my fingers crossed!!!

Thanks for another great review Jeff! Both Canada and sailing from NYC are on my to do list. :)

My parents are on the Pride with you in February! It will be fun to see if I can spot them in your review! (I am hoping there will be a review!)

The Pride remains my favorite ship as well, although I'm anticipating that the Magic may give her a run for her money in a couple of months!

Loved your photos and comments. Thank you for taking the time.

I will be on the Sunshine in July from NY, and know I'm a little early, but did you have staggered check in time?

I did the check in on line like some suggested, but I don't see it anywhere. Maybe they're not doing it on this ship?

Thanks for following along! Yes there was staggered check in for our cruise, but since we are Diamond / Platinum we can check in whenever we want. I usually check the latest time to give others a chance to check in earlier.
