Things i wish RC would NOT do/have

Smoking inside the ship in open areas

 

This is mine. Also, smoking outside should be limited to the area allowed and not all over the pool deck.

 

The servers with the tiny cocktails in the dining room.

Stop being so restrictive on inside smoking, allow one inside bar to be smoking. Stop allowing smoking in the casino, as it flows right into the non smoking section. Go ahead and scratch your heads but I smoke and see both sides. I love the cigar lounge/bar on Freedom class where you can have a drink and cigarette inside where you can sit and relax and not have to go down and stand in the casino or go outside.

 

I can think of a few, based on our last cruise but these are the ones that stand out right now:

• Cranking the volume up in all venues to the point you can't think, let alone have a conversation
  
• Allowing Park West to put their ginormous pictures in front of most of the public space windows - blocking the views to the outside
  
• Specialty restaurant upsells during dinner in the MDR.
  
• Not monitoring the pool deck in the early morning hours for chair hogs (double negative)
  

I agree with all 4 but would add two others. Stop the BOGO HOAX and similar advertising gimmicks that often include higher prices; and make the web site really user friendly.

I agree with everyone who mentioned the sales in the promenade - on the Allure one day it was like Black Friday at Walmart, with people shoving and grabbing for t-shirts....

 

The tee shirt sale on our last Jewel cruise was on the pool deck and fairly civil. Of course it might have been because it was our only sea day after 5 straight port days.

It had been 10 years between RCCL cruises for us and I was surprised that there was no cigar lounge anywhere on the Oasis class ships.

So, find a way to get one of them on each ship. Put 50 smoke eaters in each one too. Takes care of both sides of the argument. :)

It would be nice if a proper dining room was open for lunch on embarkation day. On Anthem it was only a choice of buffet (ugh) or the cafe which is just too grab and go for my taste. I really find a dining room lunch the first day to be a great way to start my cruise and I'm used to it with NCL and Princess. Was actually surprised to not get that on RCL.

What would you have them do when the number of Diamond plus members far outnumbers the capacity of the Suites lounge?

 

I know this is not popular, but give us our own lounge if need be.They know how many are coming.

Careful what you (and others) wish for. While I agree in concept I'd like to not have to see these sales pitches, they do generate revenue. And if that revenue wasn't coming from the sales that you can choose to not participate in, it would come from an uptick in the price of your cabin.

 

I have no way of knowing how much of an uptick it would have to be. If it would only be $20 per person, at lot of us might go for that to avoid all the selling. But for all we know it would have to be far more than that.

After a 2 year hiatus, I was on the Oasis in September and OMG the beds were like concrete - when did this start ! :eek: I was lucky to have my cabin steward bring an foam topper.

The ships that have lounges are usually pretty busy, and the bars are very active in the evenings.Smoking on balconies should be reported.By the way, I smoke cigars, and one of my favorite cruises was on the Mariner because of the lounge. NCL has them, and Princess has them. I won't mention HAL because they still allow smoking on the balcony.

Frankly I thing I would like to see the old system of Three Classes re introduced

 

First Class , Cabin Class and steerage

 

This would provide a class of cruise to suit all people , and yes I would gladly pay more for First Class. and if you really think about it most cruise lines are tending in this direction with Ship within ship and so forth

 

Who remembers the old P@O who had two classes and the White Star line with 3 classes , there were also many ships for 4 classes , you just paid your money and chose your class.

Hey, I'm all for a touch of class but half your list would be impossible to remove from a family oriented cruise line. We're suite bookers so I get the cruise within the cruise concept but I think your shooting for the stars. Are you just hoping for the moon? :D
