Serenade staying in Halifax tonite...

Recommended Posts

Spent the day in a very chilly and rainy Halifax. Captain said he and the brass in Miami decided it is best for us to stay docked and avoid the fast moving storm that is approaching. Happy we are avoiding possible 18 foot seas and high winds out at sea. Hoping to set sail around 6am and projected normal arrival in Boston on Sunday morning.

No doubt a few are unhappy that by Canada laws, only one bar may be open on each deck... Casino and shops stay closed.

Staff are all upbeat and things are running smoothly!

First I've ever heard of this, and I lived much of my life in Halifax.

With the possible exception of St. John's, NL, Halifax has more bars per capita than any other city in Canada and many of them are strung along the waterfront a quick walk from the ship. None of the passengers had to worry about going dry! :)

Not very often I see this.

Sorry our weather sucks this evening. It's very windy and rainy but it's common for us to get these storms this time of year (two weeks ago we had a similar storm)

The Casino is open in Halifax if anyone wants to gamble :)

A great pub crawl for sure.

Sorry... not Canada laws... Compass says "BAR OPENING RESTRICTIONS IN CANADA. As per local Customs restrictions, only one bar per deck may remain open during our stay in port. We thank you for your understanding." We had this in St. John as well.

Would be nice to visit the local pubs but all are restricted to the ship. Captain said local authorities wanted to ensure the safety of shoreside workers as well, so would not be able to leave the gangway in place past our original sail time of 6:30.

Docked on time in Boston. Would guess since we had a sea day for our last day, they decided for PR reasons to avoid any possible weather issues. Had very little impact on passengers this way.

NOT happy that they drained the Solarium pool for our last sea day. Anyone know why?

We walked in the solarium in the morning and the water was overflowing all over. They were busy trying to keep everything mopped up. Probably for safety reasons, the ship was bouncing around pretty good.
