picturegod2001 Posted November 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Hi there, I'm putting together a bachelor party cruise for my brother. He wants a big cruise with a lot of stuff on it. A lot like the allure or the escape. He's cool with a 7 day as am I (don't get me wrong). Here is where it get tricky, not everyone we are inviting can do a 7 day cruise. A little side note, there will only really be 5 to 6 of us going. So I suggested maybe we only do a 4 to 5 day cruise to the Caribbean or something. I figured a 3 day is too short and a 5 day maybe pushing it, but we'd play those cards when we get there. Here's my question. What would some of you recommend we look at going on? Again looking for a bigger, nicer ship, with stuff to do on it. That is only a 4 to 5 day cruise. Of course we are also letting the bar seen and the gambling seen weight in a bit in our decisions. All opinions and suggestions are welcome. I'm trying to make this as epic as possiable for my little brother. He's a first responder in Chicago and I couldn't be prouder of my little brother and he deserves the best. Thanks in advance. cb at sea Posted November 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2016 I think you'll have to do a shorter one, if you want others to be able to attend! Yes..a 7 nighter is better, but not if you have no "guests" at the party! For a "bachelor" party, I would think a 3-4 night would be fine.....usually they are 1 evening!!! Rare 1025cruise Posted November 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Unfortunately, the "big and better" ships tend to be used on the longer cruise. The shorter cruises won't find Oasis/Allure. If that's what you are going to do, figure out your dates, then see what is available.
ekajun1957 Posted November 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2016 You need to narrow it down to begin your decisions. As a few people involved think the advice to decide on couple possible dates for the cruise and then work from there. Most shorter cruise itineraries will be more than capable of providing a good bachelor cruise. And most ports that these shorter cruises will have some place catering to the party crowd. spookwife Posted November 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Decide which is more important: bells and whistles on board, or the bar and gambling 'scene'. If no one can do a 7 day, the big ships are pretty much right out. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Rare Essiesmom Posted November 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2016 How about Anthem of the Seas from Cape Liberty, NJ Aug 12 or 26, Sept. 9 or 23 5 nights to Bermuda. Lots to do on the ship, and overnight in Bermuda. EM
SuiteTraveler Posted November 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Here is a complete list of the Mega ships: RCCL: Oasis Allure Harmony Quantum Ovation Anthem RCCL's not quite mega ships (still have plenty to do onboard): Freedom Independence Liberty NCL: Getaway Breakaway Escape Epic MSC: Seaside and "almost" mega ships: Carnival: Magic Breeze Vista The 4 - 5 day cruises tend to be the older, less elaborate type of ships that don't have things like water slides or even outdoor movie screens. Honestly, given the time limits of some of the guests, perhaps your brother should look at a cruise for a honeymoon and instead you guys head to Las Vegas. You could get a great suite at the Hard Rock or Aria or Vdara or one of the many other hotels there and there is tons to do from zip lining to helicopter tours, 4 wheel drive tours and so much more plus the usual shows, casinos and restaurants. Another great option for a several day bachelor party would be New Orleans. They also have casinos and much, much more. Another thought would be to go to Atlantis resort. Anyway, think it over and price it out according to what kind of experience your brother wants.

nolatravelgirl Posted November 18, 2016 #11 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Have you polled the other attendees to discern if they are even interested in dedicating that much time and money to a bachelor party? Even if you keep it to a 3 day cruise you are asking a lot of folks since they would need to take time off from work and spend a significant amount of money because you don't live in a port city. As the brother of the celebrant it is easy for you to commit that much time and money, but others may have a very different opinion.
Bonnie J. Posted November 20, 2016 #12 Share Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) I would look at a cruise that is over a week end. Then guys won't have to take as many days off work to go. The 1st and often the last days are at sea, even with 4 days. September may have a lower price as summer is over. And the casino and gift shops are closed when not at sea. They open after they leave the ports. There is always things to do on all ships. Royal Caribbean has a Flow Rider (surfing ON land) and a rock climbing wall. ( I was 70 when my husband finally let me do the Flow Rider and I did it 7 times and learned to take off on my knees! I LOVED doing it and 12 year old kids are so good at it!) Some of the new Carnival ships have a ropes course, a sky court and a sky course. Their Hairy Chest contest is fun and you don't have to have any hair on your chest to win it! I know the Sunshine has some 5 days but sails of Port Canaveral now but in May goes to New York for he summer until November. We got off her Friday after 5 days then 7 days, a B2B. This was from Charleston, SC. Talk with a TA who does cruises primarily as they know about cruises better than someone who books planes and resort trips. The on line agencies have good TAs who do nothing but cruises. Edited November 20, 2016 by Bonnie J.
