purpletequila Posted December 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Just got back from a cruise on the Escape--loved it, and am thinking about booking another cruise with NCL. Schedule wise, it would probably have to be on the Getaway. Are there any big differences? Is it the same general layout? Any opinions on either ship or pros and cons or general experiences on the Getaway, please speak up! Thank you

pjules Posted December 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2016 Getaway was great! Our balcony tiny though- not much leg room. The dancers in the production show were the best dancers I have ever seen! I found the area by the O'Sheehans pub could get excessively loud if there was a show going on in the lounge area a deck below (it's open concept there). I haven't been on the Escape, but I think you'll have a similar experience, just different ports. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
stickey_mouse Posted December 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) I haven't sailed either, but based on similar posts, I suspect you'll find that people slightly prefer Escape, although the ships are very much alike. Escape essentially took the Getaway design and added a few improvements (larger balconies, a couple more dining/drinking venues, improved casino bar layout, etc. I think the only drawback of the Escape is an increased passenger load. Still, the ships are so similar that I would choose based on itinerary, and I'd venture to bet that you'll have a great time on either. TonyFred Posted December 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 2, 2016 Been on both, really liked both. The Escape won as she has the District Brew House and Food Republic. Booked her again right after we got home.

swmichigan cruiser Posted December 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 3, 2016 I've been on Escape twice and Getaway 4 times. Both great and similar but the Getaway now has the Million Dollar Quartet and to me it is the best show I have ever seen on a cruise ship so my vote is the Getaway but you can't go wrong with either. Rare BirdTravels Posted December 3, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 3, 2016 Sailed on both ships multiple times. Both are great ships. I would lean toward the Escape,,,, just because it is newer with a few additional restaurants.
nets33 Posted December 5, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 5, 2016 Just did a B2B - first week on Escape and second week on the Getaway. While the ships are very similar I preferred the Escape but I wouldn't say no to going on the Getaway again. :D
derek005 Posted December 6, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 6, 2016 We love them both! We just did the Escape in Oct and we will be doing the Getaway for the third time in Feb 16. :)
Chigirlcruzin Posted December 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 6, 2016 Both are awesome! I slightly favor Escape because it has a brew pub instead of the (stupid IMO) ice bar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
luvdznee Posted December 6, 2016 #13 Share Posted December 6, 2016 We have sailed on Getaway twice and Escape three times. Both are great ships and we had a great time on both. But..we prefer Escape because of Food Republic, Pincho and the Cellars Wine Bar. :)
GoAndHaveFun Posted December 6, 2016 #14 Share Posted December 6, 2016 Been in Getaway once and Escape twice so I indeed prefer Escape although Getaway is still very nice. I especially like Food Republic on the Escape but hate how Skyline Bar is right next to the casino as it gets freaking loud when playing blackjack. I like Bliss Lounge more on the Breakway/Getaway
