Just Embarked the Equinox. IMPRESSED!

Just FYI there was about a 20 minute hold on disembarkation at around 9 o'clock. We were in group 24 and didn't get off until 9:45. The customs line was way over an hour by that point.

The same thing happened to us on the Summit last year at Bayonne which is why I now try for the earliest disembarkation time with the luggage assist. We were held up over 30 minutes just as we were getting to the gangway.

1. yes as long as you work it out ahead of time with the Casino manager. I believe they have generic chips. I don't remember because I wasn't the organizer, just Gopher's helper. The dealer doesn't care about the value of chips since he's giving you the winning number of chips. It's the cashier and casino boss who care about the chip's value. They'll have given you the number of chips based upon the value assigned each chip and the cash you relinquished.

2.One player places their five chips on individual numbers only. They can put any amount of chips (up to five) on any combination of numbers. But you can't bet corners, rows, odd/even, red/black etc. The dealer spins. Then when your winnings are swept into the winning pile or the table is cleared of losing chips, the next person places their bets and so on until everyone has had their turn. The winning chip which is left behind can be bet on the same number or moved by the person who's chip it is. It is bet with the next person's five chips.

3. That's dependent on how generous the casino manager wants to be and how good you are at negotiating for more giveaways. It's usually the same give away types as you get at trivia. He could also throw in a couple of $5 match play coupons, lanyards, T-shirts, hats whatever they have. The more players you have signed up, the more leverage you have for additional items.

Does this help?

Hey Lonnie, if I'm mistaken or you can add anything of additional value, please feel free to jump in.

This really helps, I like the idea and will try to organize this on our upcoming cruise. Thanks. By the way we will have the bikers with us in February on Equinox. Looking forward to the line leaving and coming.

We are on the Dec 19 holiday cruise at the moment and our cabin has had no hot water since embarkation five days ago. Cold water showers are wearing a bit thin...

I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't realize that me taking such a long, hot shower on the 19th before disembarking would have that much of an effect on you.

Can you shower in the aqua spa?

We tried that today! The water in the bathroom fluctuates unpredictably between lukewarm, room temperature, and chilled. Not the best formula for a pre-dinner shower.

What deck are you on? Are others having this problem? I would not put

up with it for that long! You are very patient!

Cabin 210x, Deck 12 a few steps from pool.

Yesterday we had hot water in the morning but not at 5pm when we tried to shower before dinner. Been in same cabin on Equinox twice before, have not experienced demand-driven water temps. As long as we eat at a table for two, no need to shower after excursions (lol).

We celebrated too soon -- hot water disappears around 4:45 each evening. Waiting until 5 or 6 to get ready for dinner was why we had none. Never experienced this on other cruises, no explanation from guest relations...

I am now an Elitist. :D Although I did need to call the Captain's Club this morning to make it happen.

Yesterday they gave me only 50 club points for the 10 day cruise in Concierge even though sailing solo entitled me to the double points. A 12 minute phone call got it fixed today despite being told it could take a week or more to correct.

I then immediately requested the upgrade option on our Azamara veranda to club Suite in August. Now my fingers are crossed there will be one available.

But regardless, now my DW will be considered Elite or Discoverer on our next two cruises.

Steve, congrats. You have finally joined our club. But now we are elite plus!!!! Ann made elite this year too.

Thankx. I will give you the pleasure of sharing that info with oooeee Bob. :D

I told the Captains Club rep today that I doubt I'd get to Elite plus since I've branched out. I may include Celebrity in future cruises if the price is right and the itinerary we want...however I doubt that since Queen Lisa is taking the line in a direction that brings the quality closer to the mass market lines while sending the prices towards the more high end lines of Azamara & Oceania.

,What to do for dinner? Here's the MDR menu

Nothing really grabbed me at first so I wandered up to the Oceanview buffet. Nothing there looked inspiring. Then when I saw the Hamburgers, I decided to go to the MDR.

IMG_1825_zpsjaiqp1wk.jpg

I ordered the French onion soup. The top was cool but once I mixed it up, it was very hot on the bottom so it was fine.

I also ordered the Steak Dianne. I will admit I was pleasantly surprised. The cut was thicker. The flavor was very good. It's been the best MDR entree for me this cruise. I skipped dessert. We basically told him that it was probably the worst burger we have had and that they should go back to their former supplier and recipe. He said that he heard that before and after this supply was over (probably Feb) they would go back to the "celebrity burgers"

Then I meandered to the WC bar for a single JW Platinum before heading to bed. I had been awake since 4am with no nap.

The show which I skipped was, according to Celebrity Today, David Austen. "A spectacular show dedicated to the best of old and new with music from Josh Groban, Ed Sheeran, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Sam Smith, various musical theatre productions and classical pieces from Bocelli and Pavarotti." uh huh, that's the way, uh huh...oh never mind. lol

The internet speed really picked up for me. I have run into several people who said they've had absolutely no problems with wifi and it's the fastest they've had on a ship. I'm wondering if my local transmitter may be the problem or my cabin location.

Usually on TV Fox News, MSNBC, & CNBC are available but they haven't been since we came into St. Maarten.

Hi Steve, you probably don't remember me but we met at the World Class bar and I was an 'usual customer there for the wonderful zacapa old fasioned". I saw the pic of the burger and had to mention that we talked to F & B manager about it.

That's Jelena, right? She was an awesome bartender (and one of our favorites) at the old Molecular Bar on Equinox in Caribbean, Feb 2015! Would be great to have her on our Oct 2017 sailing!

She is a great bartender but she mentioned that she will be in tge Mediterranean after she returns from vacation. This sailing or maybe next was her last. She mentioned that been in the med would be easier with family (closer, faster to get to, etc)

Of course I remember you.

What did you say to the F&B Manager and how did he reply? I will admit that I understand I'll never receive a burger cooked the way I like it while on a cruise ship. I prefer mine fresh cooked, medium rare & juicy. They're not allowed to serve that.

She will be rejoining on the Reflection on her next contract.

Hi - you were in Cabin 9300 on the Equinox?? That's going to be our cabin too! It will be our first time on Celebrity. Our most recent cruise was on Oceania Riviera ship. I see that we'll share a private door with our neighbor????

Thanks for all your reviews of your Equinox cruise. I stayed up one night with my "smart phone" reading the entire thread instead of going to sleep!

Happy I could spend the night with you. :D Seriously tyvm for taking the time especially on your phone. I know that couldn't have been easy with all the pics.

You'll luv the location. It's just off the hump where the elevator banks are. Third cabin down the aft corridor. Plus your side of the elevators stop right at the Cafe al Bacio on deck 5. My most visited spot along with World Class Bar. :D
