Art? Is it just me?

For those who have been on the Oasis. Forward of the Casino, starboard side, there is a hallway leading to Studio B and clubs. The wall is covered with 'clear' plastic circles with colors in the 'middle'. There is a sign that says something like 'Do Not Touch. Respect the Artwork'. Can someone explain to me about this 'art'. I feel it's more like the Emporer's New Clothes. I don't get it at all.

I haven't seen the installation that you are describing Pooh. But that is one thing that I really enjoy about Royal Caribbean ships.

 

They really have a wonderful variety of art and installations in different media throughout the ships. Some of it is not to my taste, but it is great to see all the unique offerings. :D:):D

That exact wall of "art" was my husbands and my standing joke! Not exactly art. We take the stairs skit and much of the "art" that was in the stairwells was not very attractive either!

How about photos of hammers or a bowl of tacks on Liberty? Ugh. Love Liberty but the so called "art work" on that ship is awful.

People were stealing them. I don't know if you noticed, but there were cameras in that hallway. Those cameras were not originally there. The art pieces, which were blown glass (not plastic) kept disappearing off the walls in the first few months of Oasis' sailings, so they put up the signs and installed the cameras.

 

As for the meaning behind the art, there used to be a sign showing the artist and giving an explanation. Is it not still there?

"Art" is in the eye of the beholder. One man's garbage is another person's art.

 

If some a ship's art is not to my fancy, that's okay. If most of it is, I might not consider that ship for future cruises.

I have also wondered about some of the art, but I know tastes differ. I do love that it is unique. One of the first things I try to notice is the art just past the stairs on my cabin deck. I can't count the number of times I've come off the stairs and gone down the wrong hall. (I am bad with left and right.) Now, I look for the art and go the correct way!

They have such funny 'art'!

 

I went on a Cunard cruise recently and the art was truely amazing. Proper paintings of ships and portraits. :-)
