princess09 Posted December 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2016 If a 14 day cruise is also sold as back to back 7 day cruises, is it usually less expensive to book as a 14 day?
reedprincess Posted December 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2016 If a 14 day cruise is also sold as back to back 7 day cruises, is it usually less expensive to book as a 14 day? Usually? Not necessarily. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Price it out both ways to see what it best for you....
Britter16 Posted December 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2016 the advantage to booking a 14 day is with the on board credits, if you own Carnival shares you get $100. for each 7 day segment or $250 for the 14 day cruise, same with military benefits. OCruisers Posted December 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2016 We frequently take B2B cruises on Princess and have found the price to normally be the same as if we'd booked the sailings individually.
skynight Posted December 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2016 If a 14 day cruise is also sold as back to back 7 day cruises, is it usually less expensive to book as a 14 day? You must figure out the net cost both ways, meaning fare less OBC and less other cost items which may be included in a promo, such as gratuities, Specialty Dining, Beverage packages. Also include stockholder OBC, and Future Cruise Deposit OBC if you have these.
paul929207 Posted December 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 12, 2016 You have to do the math. Sometimes one way is cheaper, other times the other way is.
easyboy Posted December 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2016 If a 14 day cruise is also sold as back to back 7 day cruises, is it usually less expensive to book as a 14 day? Not necessarily. The b2b on Crown for Mar 25-Apr 8, 2017 is more expensive than booking separately the Mar 25-Apr 2 and Apr 2-8. RyanR1982 Posted December 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 12, 2016 We are doing a back to back next December on the Star. The cost of the 3 day is same as us flying and staying in a hotel for 2 nights in LA before our main cruise. TwoCruisers Posted December 12, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 12, 2016 When you purchase a 14 day cruise that is also sold as two separate 7 day cruises and you are Elite, do you get two mini bar setup’s?

You get two mii-bar setups whether you book as 2 seven night cruises or 1 fourteen day cruise. As long as it is sold both ways.

I can only add that sometimes cabins that are unavailable on the longer cruise may be available to book as 2 shorter B2B cruises. I had this happen to us & thankfully our TA intervened with Princess & was able to get our our preferred cabin when booking as a longer cruise & not as a B2B. diane.in.ny Posted December 13, 2016 #15 Share Posted December 13, 2016 We are on a 21 day Med cruise next year. B2B 11 and 10 day. I checked the numbers and booking as one cruise is about 10% less than booking separately. And that takes into account the promos.
born2cruize Posted December 13, 2016 #16 Share Posted December 13, 2016 Next year I'm booked for B2B each are 14 days. This cruise is sold as 4 - 7 days, 2 - 14 days and a 28 day single cruise. Price for the cruises were only slightly different. But the OBC and military OBC was the selling point. For 7 days I was offered $100 military, and Princess offered $150. For 14 days I received $250 military and Princess OBC was $700. For 28 days military and Princess OBC was the same as 14 days. So by doing 2 14-day I am receiving $500 military and $1400 from Princess.

satxdiver Posted December 13, 2016 #18 Share Posted December 13, 2016 I have had it work out both ways. Sometimes the combined cruise is the better deal and sometimes the B2B was better. As was said, always do the math before signing on the dotted line.
