I had noticed before that the folks in this cabin spent at lot of time in the do not disturb mode . I do hope that they are OK . ;)

Most likely quarantined for Noro Virus I suspect. They put the bells there so that the steward would know if they left the room without permission.

We went down early with the hope of avoiding the crowds in the gauntlet and it worked . We were ahead of them .

No crowds and we breezed thru unscathed

Pausing occasionally for photos .

Hello, I have been following your thread from the beginning. Let me say you take amazing photos. Wish all mine are like that. I have an old Olympus 5050 with the Sealife strobe. But the pictures never turn out as good as yours. Looking at the picture is that the pier at Hotel Cozumel? It looks very much like it and were you diving with Dive Paradise? I have stayed at Hotel Cozumel many times and it is so easy to just go across the street and get on the dive boat. We normally take the slow boat because we are always in a group of around 20. Keep the pictures coming. Have a great day. By the way we will be heading to the Great Barrier Reef in April and returning back to Los Angeles on the Emerald Princess. Also will be diving Tahiti as well. Hope the weather is good for us.

Always first on the scene, perhaps it comes from a lifetime of training.

You are right Mic , one of the fire engines that I used to work on had a motto about their work ethic in a fire , " First in , Last out " !

But a couple of years before retirement I moved to a much slower station who had the same motto - but about sleeping instead of firefighting . ;)

Thank you Tony and thank you for surfacing from the frozen tundra of Toronto . I too wish that my photos turn out as good as mine - but they don't ! Most of the underwater shots aren't good and I edit the keepers to make them better . Here's an example :

The original

The edit

Yes we were diving with Dive Paradise and it's nice to know that you use them as well !

Our pick up point was at their shop across from the Hotel Villablanca .

We have picked up many divers at the Hotel Cozumel , but never stayed there . We don't usually stay at an all inclusive , but prefer a condo . When we go with a group like the firefighters dive team we use a large boat , but normally we dive with a few friends and the fast boats ( we're old so we may not have much time left ! ) . When we dive from the cruise ship we feel like time is precious and again , use the fast boats .

We envy your upcoming cruise and hope that you have a great time !! :) :D

Our first dive in Cozumel was the Santa Rosa Wall which is the northern most dive site with a significant number of places in which you can swim thru the wall .

It's not unusual to see some large crabs hiding there from the strong current . I would have loved to invite this one to the Crab Shack for a free dinner !

Cozumel20home20036_zps3s6zfcvu.jpg

We did see a nice turtle there

Cozumel20home20083_zpsqghcuush.jpg

which , unlike us , must surface to breathe .

After the calm green water of Roatan yesterday , is was now the blue water and strong currents of Cozumel !

Ah Santa Rosa Wall, one of my favourites. The other one is Columbia Reef and then of course Punta Sur.

Like I said look at your pictures. I can never get them that good. Even if I do it would have been a fluke. One good thing about digital. Take a lot and then throw out the ones you don't want. :D Have a great evening.

On our safety stop several Barracuda swam by :

And for our surface interval we went to a place that I call Playa Caracol for the many bleached out shells there .

There is a nice beach here

DSC09213_zpsjpyugxx6.jpg

a shady place to sit , and some bushes that are referred to as El Bano .

A quick look around before we get under way for our second dive .

And we were very fortunate to have one of our favorite Dive Masters today , Emilio P .
