Currently onboard Solstice

Any idea what the current exchange rate is on board ? I was surprised that to ring up and put onboard credit to my account was only $1 AUS = 69 c US. Also at the same time purchased onboard credit for my Royal C cruise and it was 77 cents, same person at the call centre for both companies.

Onboard it's 64 c. Shocker.

I just purchased 6 units of $US25 at $NZ35 which is 0.71 cents. Best exchange rate ashore is 68 cents. Sometimes buying through the call centre is advantageous sometimes it isn't. A couple of years ago one could buy OBC through the Aussie call centre at $US1 for $A1 when the shore rate was around 75 cents. Swings and roundabouts.

The Oz Celebrity website is still showing $32.50 AUD per unit which is .769 unless my math is wrong. When we looked last night money exchanges were only offering .71c. Who knows what the USD is going to do over the next couple of months....anyone have a crystal ball?

My guess and that is why I bought some OBC is that the US dollar is going to strengthen. The US fed is talking about raising interest rates and Donald is going to be proactive which will probably also strengthen the $US. According to my crystal ball.

My gut feeling is that it won't go back up to .769 over the next few months so it's probably worth buying some OBC at the $32.50 price now, before Celebrity changes the price. That's why I bought some yesterday.

How did you calculate the above rate of .769? Really curious. Thanks.

One unit is $US25 costing $A32.5. 25 divided by 32.5 equals 0.769 or US76.9 cents for the $A1

How times have changed .... sadly for the worse for us in Australia. We sailed on Solstice in Feb 2015 and I pre purchased OBC at USD1:AUD1 ie. dollar for dollar parity. This was a very good deal when the exchange rate was about 80cents. Clearly they've closed this little loop hole - it was fun while it lasted.

Thanks. I have purchased $us125 on Celebrity website to cover my upgrade from Classic to Premium drink passage. My cruise is on 3 April Celebrity Solstice and really not confident of exchange rate in 3 months.

We're on this same cruise and it's our first time on Celebrity.

I've looked through the site at my booking and cannot find where I can purchase on-board credit from. I can see dinner packages, drinks packages, internet packages etc., but not on-board credit.

Can someone please help.

Tania

They don't make it easy to find!

Pull down the "Already Booked" menu and click on "Gifts".

Click on "Explore" under "Gifts by Celebrity Delivery Onboard"

Click on "Explore" under "Onboard Credit"

Click on "Order Now", select how many units of US $25 you want, and add them to your card. If you want more than 9 you have to do it in stages.

Checkout and follow the prompts. You enter the ship, cruise date, your surname and booking ref, from memory.

Tassie cruiser. I have a question. We are taking hubbys parents on a cruise on the solstice early next year and have concierge rooms. Last time we didn't know about the concierge lunch on embarkation day so just went to Oceanview but with them we would like to take them to the proper lunch. Would someone be able to tell me where it is held? The cruise in April we are just in normal balcony rooms so I don't need to know for that one.

The Concierge Class lunch is held in the Main Dining Room. You will need to show your Gold Concierge Class seapass to gain admittance

Yes , as beanb41 said, it's in the main dining room, 11-30 - 1-00. Was really nice, a great way to start the cruise, they put your carry on in a corner as you enter so you can enjoy. can obviously stay longer but must order before 1-00.

And they do check your sea pass card to make sure you are concierge. People tried to come in when we were going in and they had a hissy at them as they were Aqua class and weren't allowed in. Lol.

I always think of Aqua of having the same benefits as concierge, plus the Spa/Blu. But in this case they have Blu anyway, so don't need the Concierge facilities.
