Hi! We will board the Jewel in less than 30hours local time, but my upgrade bid is still on status pending. Do you normally get a mail that says they declined your bid? Thanks!

Yes, they will notify you one way or the other

Hi, Do the lowest possible bid prices change before the cruies?

Currently in a mid ship oceanview cabin on the Star for a March Mexico cruise. It's $50pp min for a balcony currently, does this change nearer the departure?

Thanks

Dom

Have you checked your credit card or logged into NCL to see if stateroom has changed?

I was email offered a 2 cat upgrade bid about 60 days out from our Mexican Riviera sailing on Star for 3/18/18 sailing. I had booked a Casino offer for an incredible price - we decided to go with OV mid-ship. I looked at what it would cost to upgrade from OV to Balcony or Mini-suite from the ORIGINAL CAS offer and UNDER bid on the email- so Balcony $100 p/p more and Mini-Suite $200 more p/p. I was emailed yesterday that we won the AFT balcony Family size room for the $200 extra - AND they charged me the upgraded travel insurance with Norwegian of $62 on my credit card. Remember, you don't get any more longitude points with this winning bid, nor any new perks - only your original perks apply. we are 48 days until sailing today, so our bid was done earlier than expected, and our AFT Balcony Family is a larger room than expected. We didn't expect to win either bid since we were in the low end of "poor" bid, but we don't want to spend too much more money on a room we won't be in very long, since we try to do all day excursions. This is a nice surprise BUT be careful because you don't get a choice of your room location when you place a bid, and unless you withdraw BEFORE they accept your bid - you're stuck with it! Congrats to everyone that won a bid, but 1st call NCl and see if they can do an upgrade to a room you would like for a reasonable price! Doesn't hurt to ask! BTW I am a TA and I do ask for the option to upgrade for my clients!

We just got an acceptance of our upgrade offer. We leave Sunday on the Pearl. We originally had an ocean view cabin, and in the last few days upped our offer to the max of $350.00, and got a balcony. It would have cost us approximately $1,000.00 extra for a balcony if we booked it, so I'm happy to only pay $700.00. I am a little nervous though as it's a PrivaSea balcony, and I've never had one of those, but I'm just happy to have a balcony!

Weird question- but do you happen to have any pictures of your PrivaSea balcony? My husband and I are currently booked in one on the Pearl sailing in May and I wanted to see (if a chance to bid came around) if I should bid aggressively to get out of the PrivaSea or if I would be ok bidding conservatively.

Here is a youtube video of priva-sea balcony 8542 on sister ship Jewel. Looks like you'll need to copy and paste into your browser

They just dropped the price on the Haven Spa that I had bid on by $700pp and are offering OBC. Granted they did have 11 cabins available last week and 4 weeks to sail date so I can see their motive to do that but my current bid is only $200 under list price with 5 cabins left...

So here comes the dilemma... should I keep my bid where it is or lower it... or should I just bite the bullet and call and see if I can purchase the cabin at current list price?! Does anyone know what benefits there are from buying it outright other than I can choose my cabin number since I got all 4 perks at booking? Are there any added benefits that I don't know about?

You will get double latitude points. I would definitely book as there is no guarantee you will win the bid. You will love the Haven!!!!!

Can't agree more. That's how I did it the first time I stayed in the Haven. I bid on a Haven cabin and the price to book it outright came down nearly to what I was bidding. I noticed it late on a Saturday and booked it around midnight. By Sunday morning, all of that Haven category was sold out.

A good Group of us Have bid for the NCL escape sailing Feb 3rd.

Anyone who bid for a balcony of higher have still not heard anything.

Does anyone know what they mean by 48 Hrs prior to sail date.

Does that mean midnight tonight or 48 hrs from when the ship actually boards?

I bid over $1000 per person for H4 and H5 I'm 24 days out now and they have been showing sold out for a week, so I guess I was not lucky so I cancelled my bids - I'm a new cruiser and didn't know about the suites and haven when I booked - if I had I would probably have just booked them outright

To be honest it was stressing me out checking everyday so now I am just gonna take my money and use it to book suite/haven for my next cruise ( if I like my first one) we are just going to stay where we are and hopefully have a fabulous time

Put your bids back In! Those who are in the cabins currently showing sold out will get upgraded, thus leaving their cabin (the one you bid on) empty. That's how it works. They don't usually award those cabins til 2 days before the cruise

Hello Mrs Tabs,

You are not alone in the daily search for news about upgrades!!!

Some of us will like yourself be very happy to remain in the cabin we first booked......I'm still one of the hopefuls!!

You mention future bookings. To experience the Haven at its best think about what ship. We have been on three Epic cruises, and one coming up, on the Haven.

Others may follow this with advice also. The bigger ships have a designated Haven restaurant and Lounge and a larger Haven Courtyard area.

The Jade Haven for example is smaller, has no restaurant, though breakfast and lunch are in "private" restaurants, has no Lounge and a smaller courtyard area.

We also love the Jade but have stayed in Suites which have also many additional advantages eg Butler, Concierge and "private" breakfast and lunch.

I am sure you will be very happy on your cruise, and will have discovered a new way to enjoy your holidays.

Don't forget to look at " Cruise Next" when you are on your cruise.

There are many people on Cruise Critic who will answer your questions about all these things.

I just wanted to make a start.....there is no end of info available here and people are very helpful.

Though in Spain I have family ties to Yorkshire......oops wrong side of the Pennines!!

Have a fantastic time.

Deeko

So I'm new to NCL, but cruising in a few weeks. Was thinking about trying to put in for an upgrade from interior to balcony, but I am booked under my friend's land-based casino offer. Will we lose any of those perks if I try to bid on an upgrade?

Thanks,

No, you keep the same perks you had when you initially booked
