We had been hoping to show up at 11am and be towards the front of the line to board. (We are first timers and VERY excited!) But I saw something online today that said some cruise lines board based on cabin location, so now I'm worried we will have to wait. How does it work? We got a comped room from a land based casino on "Aloha Deck." No idea where that is or what time segment that would put us in if we do have to wait. Thanks for the help!

Not sure what ship you are on or where you are cruising from?

We always arrive around 10:30.

Preferred boarding first, platinum/Elite/suites/handicap then general boarding.

They usually hand out group numbers for boarding.

If you get there early enough you can get a group 1.

Usually start boarding around Noon.

If you print out your Travel Summary from the Cruise Personalizer (which you should access and fill out even if not booked through Princess) there will be a section headed 'Progressive Cruise Check-in Information' which gives suggested times for boarding by deck. But it is only a suggestion. You may show up at the pier at the time boarding first starts, or even earlier. But be advised if you do arrive before boarding starts, no matter how quickly you check in you will not board ahead of Platinum/Elite/Suite passengers; you will be assigned a later group.

We've always arrived around 10-10:30 since our first cruise. You won't be turned away.

If you haven't seen anything about where to eat that first lunch yet. One main dining room (MDR) is usually open. Very nice way to start your cruise (away from the famished crowd in the buffet). Don't ask a crew member which dining room is open, you will be told "go to the buffet". Just go to your cabin, drop off your carry-ons, grab the Patter (daily newspaper) and check the back page for dining options.

Make sure you check all the information on the Princess web site http://www.princess.com/deckPlans.do?shipCode=KP&version=6. Aloha is deck 12 and last time we were on Crown they still had the carpeting on port and starboard sides of ship different colors (blue or orange) - helps to find your cabin. Aloha is two decks down from the pools and buffet.

On most Princess ships you can go to your cabin immediately on boarding and drop your carry-on stuff off. Boarding should start around 11, assuming the ship gets in on time and all previous passengers get off on time. They need a zero-count in US ports.

Make sure you check out the Ft Lauderdale board for information on hotels and transportation.

Our experience out of Fort Lauderdale is that the check in counters open around 11 for the preferred line (elites/suites/platinums) but actual boarding doesn't start until around 11:45 or noon. I don't think we have ever actually boarded at 11.

I'm going on the emerald princess this summer to Alaska and our catalogue says they board at 1 pm in Seattle . Do u think we can board earlier? If so what time should we be at the terminal?

They always say 1 PM at every port.

And like the other ports, reality is that check-in will start by 11 AM and boarding will start around noon.
