My Yacht club observation, is it worth it? I say yes.

We have sailed the YC twice and the Haven about a half dozen times. I like the YC better. Top Sail lounge is nicer than the Haven lounge and the YC is typically a better deal. Our next trip is on the Meraviglia. Like stealthy, we booked a YC interior. We have been in a YC1 and a YC2. We noticed on Med. cruises with only one sea day, we were rarely in our room on the Splendida due to excursions, dinners, shows, etc.

The room price for two is $1,739 U.S. this October. At that price, and based on our experience on the Splendida, it was too good a deal, to pass up. Besides, we book the YC more for the amenities than the room. Also, The YC1 rooms are the same size as a standard balcony so you are not losing much space wise. If you want to experience YC on a budget, the YC interior is the way to go.

Totally agree about the cabins in the Mediterranean, don't get me wrong I love a balcony but would only go out there for 15 min a day. Too much to see and do on this ship, at least while it's the newest in MSC's fleet. Happy cruising [emoji2]

I have found the key to getting a good price is booking really early. I have three cruises booked at an average cost of $1700 (with single supplement). All are for an inside YC. Problem is, I can't find prices like this yet in 2019.

You are right! Glad it's just not me. The prices aren't bad, but at least 18-22% more than 2018.

We have done 8 MSC cruises all in the YC and feel they are great value for money. We have also done 11 NCL cruises most in the Haven/Courtyard area. When we started with NCL they were good value but now they have overpriced themselves. It is always the YC for us.

We're going on our first MSC cruise next month. We did Haven last year; it was very nice, but it's gotten even pricier this year; We're paying about 4k for the four of us for a regular Divina Yacht Club room; it would be double that on Haven.

We also weren't happy that they only gave us 2 drink packages with our last Haven vacation, and the bartenders (in the Haven) took our cards every single time, and still ended up charging us for drinks as they put it on the wrong account- that shouldn't happen during an upscale/luxury vacation.

We also loved the Haven restaurant, but were kind of annoyed that the menu was identical every single day/night (although it was nice to get lobster 3 meals a day.) Will see how Haven compares!

Guests #1 and #2 received the UBP.

If those 2 room cards were used, the drinks wouldn't have been put on any other account.

Exactly.

It should just be the entire stateroom for the price. There shouldn't be nickel and diming in a luxury area.

Hence, we're trying something different (MSC YC)

Thanks for info, would love to try YC, have been doing Grand suites on RCCL , suite on RCCL is much larger but really like the perks listed for YC

was doing Royal and Owner Suites on RCI - but we got nothing except the lounge - we had to buy a drink package, so the lounge was useless and we paid every single night to go to the alternate dining rooms - when we had the Royal Suite with this massive bar - there was not even any liquor or anything as a matter of fact - we had to order via room service and pay the price -

however, now i see the Celebrity new ship Epic is copying the MSC aspect -

-private pool / premium drink package / private dining room / lounge - hmmmmm i am still going to stick to MSC for now for sure - - - -

At one time in the Haven, all 4 guests (in our case, it was 4) received the same promos. When they went to "just guests 1 & 2" for the entire ship, that included the Haven. :(

We're also trying MSC/Yacht Club for the first time. We haven't given up on the Haven completely but the YC pricing is easily better than the Haven.

Sorry. Meant Celebrity Edge - wouldn't allow me to edit for some reason.

We are going on our first MSC cruise in 2 weeks. We had the same experience you had with NCL. They were our cruiseline of choice for suites but the price increases have been outrageous. It feels like price gouging and that doesn't feel very good. We had 2 cruise next awards and decided we didn't want to use them. Most recently the daily service fee increased for the 4th time in 2 years. Enough was enough. I am grateful to have stumbled on MSC and are really looking forward to the YC experience.

I'm booked on YC in October. I'm slightly apprehensive that I will feel the need to spend lots of time confined in the YC area instead of around the ship to justify the cost.

Hopefully I will find a compromise and enjoy a bit of everything.

I understand your concerns as I felt the same way. However, YC is very quiet and sedate in the evenings so, when we're in YC, we enjoy the enclave's wonderful facilities - the pool bar, the lounge and the restaurant, during the day. Then, after a wonderful evening dining in the YC restaurant, at a time that suits us, we then spend the rest of the night in the theatre, casino and other entertainment venues around the rest of the ship. Now that the inclusive drinks package is ship-wide, it makes it even more attractive to venture out and enjoy the whole ship's offerings.

I 100% agree with what you said Beamafar. The YC area is great to have drinks before dinner in the private restaurant, after dinner we also spend the evening around the ship before relaxing back in the YC lounge late evening for a drink and snacks if peckish.

You don't need to hand over your cards in YC - just order from the butler in the lounge. As long as it's included, you're not troubled with signing for your drinks, either. Outside of YC you will need to, though. With MSC only one card is required.

Great post stealthy! That’sgood to hear; my family and I are taking our first MSC cruise aboard Divina inthe Royal Suite this summer (in 68 days) and we’ve heard nothing but greatthings about MSC’s YC. We have taken several cruises on other cruise lines –most recently with Disney aboard the Dream in one of her Concierge suites lastsummer. Like you, we work hard and save our money, so that we can go big on thesummer vacations. My wife is a teacher, so we’re limited in our ability tovacation outside of her summer breaks for the most part, so we always try to gobig when we do.

I can’t wait to see howDivina YC compares with Disney, but really I’m just looking to enjoy anothergreat vacation. Thanks for the post, and I’ll be sure to check back in with myreview following our cruise later this summer.

That's excellent Max. I'm very happy for you and your family and look forward to reading your reviews as a first time YC experience. In 62 days we'll be in YC too sailing the Mediterranean on Meraviglia.

I have learned so much on this thread. Thanks, Stealthy. I found YC by accident because I was looking for a specific itinerary. That led me to MSC and Meraviglia. When I started exploring cabin options, the Yacht Club intrigued me.

On Princess, we will often book an interior and splurge on the private, adults-only Sanctuary deck. This seemed like the best of both worlds. And, as elites on Princess, the MSC status match sealed the deal. We booked for $2290 for the 8 day Med itinerary on Oct 19 (same as a regular balcony at the time). A little more than we would normally spend on a week-long cruise but it seemed worth it to try something new. We are NOT big drinkers but might change that on this cruise:)

Stealthy--you sold me on my decision. The idea of quiet evening dinners and poolside lounging with my sweetie sounds grand.

We aren't wealthy so value matters. If we like the YC experience, we may have another go at MSC in 2019. Cuz in 2018 we are blowing our entire annual vacation budget on an interior on Princess for the 29-day Singapore to Anchorage (a bargain at $7200 w/gratuities included) And look for me on Sea Days in The Sanctuary.

Sail on.

Good on you Muggo. I look forward to reading of your experience when you cruise.

You are very right about the price. We would rather cruise in YC every year or so and make it a first class experience we will never forget, plus coming from the other side of the pond, we include other land based vacation sites as well that really add up the dollars, so booking early in YC saves us heaps [emoji4].

That 29 day cruise sounds awesome for the price, well done.

The Meraviglia itinerary is Genoa, Naples, Messina (Sicily), Valletta (Malta), Barcelona, Marseille.

You can embark/disembark at most of these ports - this is the order of ports of call when embarking in Genoa.

Stealthy, at the prices you quoted(US $) YC is obviously the only way to go. Trouble is, we have never ever seen those prices trying to book from here in the US. We will keep looking.

On the other hand, why do people chose to drive Toyotas, or Chevys, and not Cadillacs, Rovers or Beamers? Why do people fly coach and not first? Why do people choose smaller rather than bigger houses? Isn't that obvious also?

Who knows, as difficult as it is to believe, there may be people out there that would rather cruise regular cabins instead of service souped up YC cabins.

Enjoy your cruise.

Cheers.

"Who knows, as difficult as it is to believe, there may be people out there that would rather cruise regular cabins instead of service souped up YC cabins. "

I for one would rather cruise in a regular cabin. I would rather cruise 3 times a year than once every 2 year.

This year I have 3 cruises planned ( a 22, a 21 and a 14 day ) for a total of 57 days. My cost for a "regular cabin" is $7137. The cost for the same 57 days in "The Yacht Club" would be $47,710. I travel solo and am accustomed to paying single supplement. It suffices to say that cruising in the YC would limit me to one cruise per year. Therefore I think I can forgo the Butler, the Concierge and Le Muse.

Just the opinion.of an old retired soldier.

The COLONEL

I also live in a small townhome and drive a Cadillac !!!
