wannagonow123 Posted May 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Is the smoking area covered on the Rotterdam? I know it is located on the Sport Deck, but when the casino is smoke-free, we will need to head up to the outside. We have not traveled with Holland since the balcony smoking ban. Thanks. Krazy Kruizers Posted May 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Right at the bar area it is covered. But if you have a sweeping rain storm -- you may get some rain when you sit at the bar. The tables and chairs will definitely be hot by the rain.
CruiserBruce Posted May 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2017 There is a huge thread, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2084364&highlight=smoking that covers all the smoking issues. A little search would have found lots of info on HAL's policy. Don't be surprised if this gets merged into the one smoking thread.
OlsSalt Posted May 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Location of a smoking area hopefully is not a discussion about the smoking policy. It is a reasonable logistical question. The smoking area is covered on the aft Lido deck, but not enclosed. Smokers know where to go, and others know where to stay away. Seems to work. Rare kazu Posted May 2, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Is the smoking area covered on the Rotterdam? I know it is located on the Sport Deck, but when the casino is smoke-free, we will need to head up to the outside. We have not traveled with Holland since the balcony smoking ban. Thanks. Aft Lido deck (aka "The Retreat). All covered. Some sit there to smoke, some sit there for the exceptional service by the attendants and to drink or enjoy the view. wannagonow123 Posted May 3, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted May 3, 2017 OK. Now I am confused. HAL's website says the Rotterdam's smoking area is on the Sport deck. he Lido deck will work. Thanks to all with answers. One note to the individual that suggested I go to the smoking thread... I did try to look at the thread posted. I was unable to use a filter, and frankly it was easier to ask, rather than look at over 100 pages. I am very sorry it offended you that I dare ask a question. I will warn you that I will probably as some more, but I will be sure to do an extensive search first.
noone Posted May 10, 2017 #12 Share Posted May 10, 2017 Where is smoking on Noordam? When I search I see conflicting info on HAL, some places say Crows nest, some refer to outdoor location on ship. I even called HAL and yet again received different info.
catl331 Posted May 10, 2017 #13 Share Posted May 10, 2017 (edited) Where is smoking on Noordam? When I search I see conflicting info on HAL, some places say Crows nest, some refer to outdoor location on ship. I even called HAL and yet again received different info. From the FAQ's:The designated smoking areas for all ships are as follows unless otherwise noted: Sea View (Retreat) Bar/Pool on starboard side only. On Prinsendam, Koningsdam, and Nieuw Statendam, smoking is allowed on the port side only Sun Bar on Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam Sports Deck forward and aft of Crow’s Nest on starboard side on Maasdam, Veendam, Volendam, Zaandam, Rotterdam and Amsterdam Oak Room on Noordam only, including cigar and pipe smoking Designated areas for active slot players in Casinos*. Oosterdam and Eurodam casinos are completely non-smoking. Noordam Casino is completely non-smoking, with the exception of two nights per cruise. The Noordam Oak Room is next to the Crow's Nest, but separate. Note that it does say Sports Deck for Rotterdam in addition to the Sea View bar area, but I can't figure out where they are talking about!
