liberty64 Posted May 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2017 Our itinerary states that we now dock in Nynashamn not Stockholm on our forthcoming Baltic cruise. On the website there are no excursions showing and we really wanted to visit Stockholm, does anyone know if NCL will be providing shuttles?? rocklinmom Posted May 31, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2017 What is your sailing date?
Rare Huntingdon1701 Posted May 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 31, 2017 I can't find any reference to a shuttle in the freestyle daily from last week, but they did have a 'Stockholm on your own' excursion. I think someone has mentioned there is a good train connection between the two, but I'm afraid I don't have any details.
Igmus mom Posted May 31, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2017 When we read about the port change we booked a tour with Alla to make the best use of our time..would have preferred not to do tour but thought this would be less stressful.
Rare fabnfortysomething Posted May 31, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 31, 2017 we did Baltic cruise with NCL and tendered at Nynashamn we took the ship excursion Vasa and free time[we usually avoid ships excursions] just to make it easy to get to Stockholm however friends took train and they said it was easy
Cruisercl Posted May 31, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 31, 2017 I was on the 16-25 May Baltics cruise on the Getaway. We docked in Nynashamn at the pier, did not tender. We took an Alla tour but next time would take the Hop-on Hop-off bus into Stockholm. They were right on the pier and were very good about getting people back on time for sailing. Heard nothing but good things. Have fun!!
Igmus mom Posted May 31, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 31, 2017 How was the Alla tour? Does the hop-on-hop-off go to the Vasa? May we should rethink this.
goldie099 Posted May 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2017 Thanks for the info about hop on hop off buses at Nynashamn! If they are, as you say, right at the port in Nynashamn, that's probably what I'll do when I go in early July. Does anyone happen to know what company/bus line does this? I try to avoid organized tours wherever possible (St. Petersburg will be the exception on this cruise), so this seems like a very convenient way to get from the port to the city (along with some transport in the city itself). Igmus mom Posted May 31, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 31, 2017 We've only been on two escorted tours.,the rest of our travel has been independent, but we thought that with limited time a tour might be be better. This is also our first cruise so I'm a bit concerned about time constraints. If we do take the Alla tour I hope it will be good.
Sauer-kraut Posted May 31, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 31, 2017 There is a lot of good information on the EUROPE Ports of Call board for the Scandinavian ports.
Froggitt Posted June 1, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 1, 2017 There is nothing to do in Nynashamm. Either stay on board, or do a tour.
liberty64 Posted June 1, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Thanks for your replies, just a couple of more questions. Does the hop-on-hop off bus go from Nynashamn all the way to Stockholm? I can see one that does Nynashamn only. Have never done an independant tour preferring to stick with the ships excursions but as they have none listed I am in a dilemma as to whether to book something beforehand or wait to see if NCL are offering trips once we board. My concerns are with the distance from the port to Stockholm and any delays that may occur getting back to the ship. Can't understand why they have no excursions listed when I log in to our booking, I wonder if there is there a chance they will have sold out already! dexddd Posted June 1, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 1, 2017 I saw in another post that the port changed so you didn't go to Stockholm directly. What was the reason for that? When we went there on Sun a few years back they changed the whole season to not going to Stockholm then the year after they switched it back to docking in Stockholm. At the time, they offered paid shuttles as described above. We opted for the bus with Vasa then time on your own which worked out great as it had the Vasa tickets and we went right in. 300dtc Posted June 1, 2017 #14 Share Posted June 1, 2017 We are booked thru TJ Travel for our tour in Stockholm, they sent me additional information that if we dock in Nyansham they will pick us up there. This way I don't have to worry about that:)

Rare All-ready2cruise Posted June 2, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 2, 2017 Doing a little research, I found a couple of sites for tours: What's in port: https://www.whatsinport.com/Nynashamn.htm Hop on hop off: http://www.visitnynashamn.se/en/home/cruise/hoponhopoffbus.4.2447cef013e3c1b82892886.html Have fun.
