Royal Caribbean Changes Shore Excursion Cancellation Policy

The new cancellation policy will start on June 15, 2017 on all 24 cruise ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. The new cancellation policy will transition from a 24-hour prior to tour departure deadline to a 48-hours prior to port arrival deadline.

The new shore excursion cancellation policy will be as follows:

• Hassle-Free Cancellation Policy – Excursions can be modified or cancelled up to 48 hours prior to port arrival without penalty. Tours involving flights, trains, special events, overnight stays, hotel stays and Private Journeys must be cancelled 30 days prior to sailing to avoid cancellation penalties. Other restrictions may apply.
  
• Exchange Policy – The deadline for exchanges is 48 hours before port arrival. In the event a tour is cancelled, a full refund will be provided to the guest’s on-board account.
  

If a cruise passenger booked before June 15th and wishes to cancel before 24 hrs., they will be allowed to do so. If they booked their shore excursions after June 15th, the cancellation will fall under the new policy.

I'm under the old policy, and RCL was having a sale of up to 20% off on selected tours. Took advantage of 4 tours on our upcoming 12 nite Medit. cruise.

I know it is not necessary but the CDN dollar is so low now that it seems better to book and pay in CDN dollars rather than US dollars on board.

I book in advance when there are sales. We're only doing one on our upcoming cruise; by booking in advance we went from paying sticker price of $85 to sale price of $81 then another sale price of $68. That extra $$ will buy me some extra drinks or slot pulls in the casino, LOL.

 

Plus, I like knowing the excursion I want is available. I've been on ships where some have sold out, and got stuck doing a second or third choice. I've been sailing since before the internet existed, and you had to wait until you were on board to book excursions. If there is something I want to do, I make sure I get it.

Some of us like to pre pay for everything ahead of time. Plus if there's an excursion you really want to do you risk the chance of it being sold out if you wait to book onboard.

Agree. Plus now we can use our OBCs to book them while sitting at home.
