The shareholder benfit letter says the benefit is applicable on sailings thru July 31, 2018. Is the time limit a new requirement? No, it's not a new requirement. It happens that way every year. At the annual meeting they vote on the shareholders benefit and extend it for another year. Has been that way for a long time. Around April (IIRC) you will see the CCL stock holders benefit amended to extend into 2019.

KirkNC Posted December 6, 2017 #54 Share Posted December 6, 2017 At this point, can you imagine the riot on here if they choose not to renew it? It saves us a ton of money now that we are retired and cruising a lot.

I still remember a thread afraid they were cancelling because the OP didn't know it had to be renewed annually. I think it's a smart move by CCL as it is basically encouraging their shareholders to use the product. My only regret is that I took as long as I did to buy the stock. As it is I have pretty much recouped my entire purchase in OBC's without even taking into consideration the appreciation of the stock.
swedish weave Posted December 7, 2017 #56 Share Posted December 7, 2017 CCL has recently increased the dividends twice and they are now paying $45.00 per quarter for 100 shares in addition to the OBC.
f3red Posted December 7, 2017 #57 Share Posted December 7, 2017 I have probably gotten at least $1000 worth of OBC since buying 100 +shares of CCL several years ago. Not only that but the stock has doubled since my original purchases as well as paying a dividend. Oh that all my investments had paid off like CCL. My last cruise I was surprised that a lot of the long time Holland cruisers i met were not even aware of the OBC stock deal. Funny but I don't recall seeing this promoted by HAL on their web site or on board etc. I would think that the CCL marketing gurus would promote this wonderful perk extensively. Maybe they do but for some reason I don't ever see it. Wonder why? What is the typical OBC amount? Does it vary by cabin class?
Rare kazu Posted December 7, 2017 #58 Share Posted December 7, 2017 What is the typical OBC amount? Does it vary by cabin class? The cabin you are in makes no difference. It's the length of the cruise. 14 days and over is $250, 7 - 13 days is $100 and 6 days and under is $50. Here is the link to the 2017 benefits http://phx.corporate-ir.net/External.File?item=UGFyZW50SUQ9Mjc0MjIzfENoaWxkSUQ9LTF8VHlwZT0z&t=

Yes, the renewal is done at the shareholders meeting each year. I believe tha actual date for cruising is May/June 2018 but they need do need adequate notice to get it on. I might have attached the preliminary link but it is the same thing each year ;) I have my CCL credit for my sailing next May, 2018.
drowelf Posted December 7, 2017 #61 Share Posted December 7, 2017 This topic seems to come up very few months. I wonder if we can get the base information (OBC Amounts, Fax #, documentation requirements, etc.) set up as a sticky so it stays at the top of the forum? For the record, we too also own at least 100 shares of both CCL and RCL. We make more use of the CCL, but my wife takes a few girlfriend cruises on RCL where its come in handy. Both stocks have been sound investments over the years. We have the stock in the DWs IRA-SEP account, so the dividends are not subject to taxes (at least for now). Not unless there are at least 5 eliminated. :halo::') Sadly, the info is on a website which was a sticky (and a good one) but then CC changed the rules and could no longer be a sticky :( as it was in contravention. I never realized how many stickies there already where. I don't know what software is used to host these forums, but the one used by Flyertalk allows the creation of Wiki's as part of posts. So there are only a few stickies in the forums I follow. Almost all have a "Master Wiki Sticky", if we had one Wiki type sticky called "Holland America Master Wiki" it could contain most of the information that the individual stickies have. I Luv Crusin Posted February 14, 2018 #65 Share Posted February 14, 2018 I'm cruising mid-September. Should I wait until July to submit my request for OBC? Just wondering because the benefit seems to go from July to July.

Just wondering because the benefit seems to go from July to July. My PCC tried to submit my stock for an October cruise about a week ago and was told to wait until after July 31st to do that one. Alberta Quilter Posted February 14, 2018 #67 Share Posted February 14, 2018 That's odd. I submitted my request in mid January for my Sep/18 cruise and the OBC was credited to my account that same day.
Rare richwmn Posted February 14, 2018 #68 Share Posted February 14, 2018 That's odd. I submitted my request in mid January for my Sep/18 cruise and the OBC was credited to my account that same day. The current pdf shows that the benefit expires July 31st, as it does each year. At the stockholder meeting each year, at least for the past 10 - 12, it is renewed for another year. The benefit is applicable on sailings through July 31, 2018 aboard the brands listed below. Certain restrictions apply. Applications to receive these benefits should be made at least two weeks prior to cruise departure date.
Alberta Quilter Posted February 14, 2018 #69 Share Posted February 14, 2018 What you say is all true, I know. But the only time I was asked to delay my request was when I put it in extraordinarily early, like more than a year in advance. I've only had two cruises after July (since I became a shareholder) and neither time was I asked to delay until after the AGM and approval of the benefit. As I said, I've already been credited for the benefit for my Sep/18 cruise. So, to the poster who asked, I would submit the request and see what happens. If you are asked to request after July, then do that.
Tampa Girl Posted February 14, 2018 #70 Share Posted February 14, 2018 WHAT did you pay for your shares? LOL, I bought mine this week at I think $64. OBC was really the only reason I bought them-sounded like a guaranteed profit, you know? (First time in 20 years I've asked my financial advisor to buy a stock for me.) Anyway, on to my question: On a different board it said these OBCs cannot used for gratuity or casino. Please tell me this isn't true?! It can be used for gratuities. It simply goes into your account with other OBC's and can be used for anything the other OBC's can. Apparently, however, it cannot be used at the Casino. Islabeachbum Posted February 14, 2018 #73 Share Posted February 14, 2018 My FP sends me a separate letter showing my ownership. I then email it to HAL. Sorry, I don’t have that email address with me as we are traveling. You also might check when you do a b2b cruise or a longer cruise hat has several segments. If you book them separately you can get OBC for each booking. It isn’t always cost effective, but definitely worth looking at. On our SA cruise we got a great deal on one segment. The cruise was actually cheaper pricing it separately plus we got $250 OBC for each segment. So, definitely ask.

But then all the more reason for the poster who questioned it to submit their request since they also would be past final payment by the time the benefit is renewed. danacline Posted February 15, 2018 #75 Share Posted February 15, 2018 This will be our first cruise as shareholders. I assume I shouldn't bother until after final payment (cruise is 8/18/18). From what I hear, CCL shares apply to any CCL brand. RCL shares apply to RCL and Celebrity (can't remember what else they own). NCL shares only apply to NCL. Now if I could just talk their loyalty programs on CCL brands into merging - we've split our cruises across a lot of different brands.but would be doing rather well if they counted all of them as one. FWIW, yesterday CCL closed at 69.92 and RCL at 130.52.
