Consider staying in Mestre. No bridges there and only 5-10 mins by train or bus to Venice. We loved the Plaza hotel opposite Mestre train station. Otherwise you will be stuck with the Santa Chiara hotel at Piazzale Roma.

We aren't going until Nov 2017, but we have done a bit of research on the subject....

Try this link to look at lists of hotels in different Venice neighborhoods that have no bridges to cross. You can also search by Alilaguna stop. http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/bridges/locations-index.htm

We wound up booking the Hotel Paganelli, which is right on the basin and has no bridges to cross from the Alilaguna blue line.

There are lots of hotels you can stay at in Venice without dragging your bags over bridges. You most likely will have to take a water taxi or a water bus, to them, though. Hilton Stuck Molino, for example. But dozens of other hotels.

We booked at Hotel Palazzo Stern - no bridges, Aliliaguna stop right next door to hotel (Ca Rezzonico).

We are looking at this hotel but wondered how you travelled between the hotel and the cruise terminal? It seems to be on the wrong Alilaguna line?

We just got back from our cruise and stayed at Hotel Ala which is about 50 metres from the vaparetto stop with no bridges. About 3-4 min walk to San Marco square and 15-20 min stroll to Rialto Bridge. Very clean, great breakfast included and quintessential Venice feel.

We looked at several other hotels but decided against them for this reason. The one we chose is on the blue line, which comes from the airport, and then goes on to the cruise port. Should be easy peasy.

We originally had booked at the Hotel Ala mentioned above, which looked like a great place. But we decided that we didn't want to mess with our luggage taking a vaporetto to the ship. So we chose a hotel where we can take the alilaguna boat, which is designed for passengers with luggage.

Are you arriving to Marco Polo airport, then taking a cruise?

If so, most people take a cab or the ATVO airport express bus and will be dropped off at Piazzale Roma. Either ride is 15-20 minutes; cab about 40E, bus about 8E. The link posted previously provides info on bridges to cross if you stay nr PRoma. There are 2 with no bridges and several with 1 small bridge.

To reach the pier from PRoma, you can take a 5 minute cab ride for 20e. Or you can take the People Mover from PRoma for about 1E. But there is walking when you disembark the People Mover.....about 2 blocks to the pier area, then to wherever your ship is berthed.

Another transfer option from the airport is the Alilaguna, a boat service. The blue line leaves from the airport, and also goes to the pier.

http://www.alilaguna.it/en/lines/lines-map

This link provides info on hotels near the Alilaguna stops. The hotel directions indicate any bridges to cross. They will be small.

http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/directions/index-alilaguna.htm

Another thought ....... use the left luggage facility at PRoma. Leave your large suitcase there, and take a small overnight bag. This allows you to stay ANYWHERE in Venice without worrying about hauling suitcases over bridges.

I always stay at the M le Gare hotel on Murano. Direct on red alilaguna from the airport and easy to get blue alilaguna to the cruise terminal.

Vaporetto right outside hotel door takes you into St Marks.

Hotel Olimpia, Best Western is next to Piazzale Roma. There is only one bridge to cross, then a walk across the square to the people mover.

If lugging casas across a bridge is a bit much, there is a porters office near the people mover. Book a porter and they will get your luggage across for you.

Great hotel, great location.

Luggage Porters

At Piazzale Roma, by the the corner where is the Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia, you will recognize our headquarters where we are present every day 365/365 from 06:00 to 22:00. To contact the operators of the head office number is:

We don't go until October, so no first hand experience yet - but when you book directly with the hotel on line, you are entitled to one trip you can reserve on their private boat (they have their own dock) - so we reserved that to take us from the hotel to port area.

Definitely recommend Hilton Molina Stucky, they also have there own boat to go across to St marks.

There is a small hotel Ca Doga which looks nothing from the outside but the rooms are nice but they didn't have a lift when we stayed a few years ago but location is excellent because it looks onto the square where the buses and taxis drop off and it is next to the people carrier which takes a very short ride to the cruise Terminals.

We booked Hotel Paganelli. It is right on the Alilaguna blue line. I emailed them for their best rates and they emailed me back with a code to use on their website that reduced their rates about 15%. They have been very responsive via email. We haven't stayed yet but I think it will be very nice.
